Even being tackled down onto the netting doesn't seem like it'd be worse than most of the bumps the blokes were taking during Powerball.

The bloke clattering his head on the balance beam is surely a concussion check? Maybe Clatters doesn't go in for that sort of thing.

If you fell directly through one of the holes it would be fine, but you wouldn't because of the forward momentum. You'd get tackled into the beams on the way down and there'd be arms, legs and necks getting bent at all sorts of angles.

That is a fair point. I suppose there are other events where you can take those sorts of falls but not with a roidy powerlifter actively tackling you in the process.

I recognise 3 of them as meatheads from YouTube so that doesn’t surprise me that they’re immobile

Before we go to rose-tinted in our eyewear selection, the original had a few, erm, less good events as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T2h9i-OO-9I

I have a soft spot for Danger Zone. The one where they had to swing to grab the nerf balls off the central pillar was maybe my least favourite.

    I fucking loved that event.

My least favourite was this one I believe:

Wasn't pyramid banned because a few gladiators retired after nearly being paralysed on it?

30 feet in the air for that game seems a bit unnecessary.

Bionic is a bit good at gauntlet mind

I think that's the first time someone hasn't gone through (other than the lad who twisted his knee).

Viper is fucking shit at absolutely everything.

Glad to see the manglads had a better showing on Gauntlet though and Bionic was absolutely fucking not having it on that second run was he?

Can't decide if this ultimate frisbee and ballet lad is either doomed for being a manlet or if there's so little point trying to overpower the Gladiators that he just needs a bit of luck with the events.

Chung was doing well there right up until he'd breezed by the Gladiators a bit too easily three times on the bounce and then they just started monstering him.

Nitro was pretty rapid up the wall there but this boy Chung is rapid.

Dynamite was embarrassing on Hang Tough though, she's very much the Viper of the womens group. Rubbish at everything.

They clearly need to give them some actual lace-up boot things if only for The Wall because it's basically pointless to try and grab them unless the Gladiator gets right on top of them.

Moving it in the schedule to accommodate the rugby obviously played havoc with the viewing. Also I guess regular contributors may have been watching the Afcon.

I gave it 10 minutes last night in between stuff. It’s ok but Walsh Jr and the contestants had about as much charisma as a brick wall. And is Clattenburg doing fake Scottish?

I think it's just his shit Durham accent coupled with desperately trying to be John Anderson.

I did think it was slightly Scottish at first.

Shinners would know better than me being a Durham native but I know the accent well and he’s definitely putting something foreign on for “Gladiator, ready!” at least.

Actually on further inspection, it seems he hasn’t got a Durham accent at all. Sounds more like Ashington to me (Mark Wood, for our cricket fans), with an attempt to water it down unlike Wood, which is proper mong territory, so as you were.

I like the show. Has lots to offer: dumb fun, nostalgia, fit lads/lasses, immensely charismatic presenting from both Walshes, something for everyone.

WWE I could write a book on why I hate it. Main one is childhood trauma as all my friends preferred it to football so I had to find new friends.
