I actually applied for my Italian ID card so in the new year I can chuck it in your face and go "ha!" (Sole motivation).

    Here's a video of it.

I'm basically the forum version of Russ Cook.

Most people believe that The African Slave Trade was the beginning and end of Slavery. There is a very deliberate effort to not acknowledge the Slavery still going on to this day, because our economy depends on it.

It's actually quite impressive how sick it is

Just had my first haircut and beard trim at a barbers since pre-Covid so I look good for Christmas.

Things seem to have levelled up in the years I've not been going. I had cream put on my face then a hot towel whilst the guy proceeded to massage my arms then click my fingers. Also used so much beard oil and sprayed me with various fragrances that I think they'll be on me for a week.

Maybe but I didn't have the wax thing done in my ears/nose or the FIRE which people have said happens in those places.

The arm massage was really appreciated as mine were sore as fuck after my workout yesterday.

How much? My barber only charges Ł18 for haircut and beard trim. The rest charge Ł10+ for a beard trim alone. Had to switch barbers last year after the geezer gave me a ‘hangover special’ without even asking. Ł45

    Ł34.

We have about 12 barbers in my town and they all charge Ł30. Too many Londoners live here now so they jack the prices up.

It's why I've done it myself for so long.

Ł12 haircut and beard trim but I always give the old fella Ł15 and I'll give him Ł20 this time since it's Christmas.

    Sick of supermarkets now.

Been to the Sainsbury's in my town twice, the Sainsbury's in the next town over, the M&S in the town over and a Nisa (bonus non-supermarket) today.

Arrived at the folks earlier to find my mum seething because all the supermarkets were out of sprouts on sticks, and she won't countenance buying sprouts in a bag. I also met my sister's newish boyfriend for the first time. My brother (who knows about spies) is convinced he's a spy, but I don't think he is. All in all, a splendid Saturday.

Forgive my ignorance, why would the sprouts be on sticks?

And, if the answer to that doesn't clarify, why is them NOT being on sticks a bad thing?

So I started work as a printer this year. Parents have been indifferent to telling me what they want so decided to get some mediocre gifts and lean into custom made personalised cards to reinforce the 'at least he tried' synapse. Fucking left them at the office and everyone with keys has left the county.

My mother in law and brother in law arrived. Meant a game of “Unstable Unicorns”. They arrived with the PG and Adult ones. Add it to the list of card games that aren’t actually fun.

That's how you differentiate between lower class and upper class sprouts.

Yeah, it's a class signifier. Similarly she won't drink tea from tea bags but has to brew it from leaves. Still buys tea bags anyway for my dad to use. Not sure if it's a power move or just self-delusion.

Does it have to be delivered built, or is that just a misery delayed if it isn't?

I've got similar tomorrow, although it's a balance bike so should be alright.

In other misery news, I just heard Ed Sheeran and Anne Marie's live lounge version of Fairytale of New York. Good grief. I also note that Stay Another Day cover I was moaning about at the beginning of the month appears to have been canned from public consumption as I don't think I've heard it since, despite assurances at the time that it would be played a lot. Win.

Just put my potatoes on to parboil for tomorrow's roasties.

They wont turn up amazing as we're travelling to London with them (Auntie is hosting as she has a big house but DESPIES cooking so we're all making stuff to bring) so they will lose their crunch. Going to put them in a foil roasting tray thing so hopefully I can whack them in the oven for 10 minutes when I get there.

Its also a balance bike so fingers crossed. Which have you got? I purposely got one without a break to lessen the misery, plus it looks class.

I needed a 14" one so went for an Isla Bike Rothan before they go out of business. It's stupidly expensive for what it is, although it does have a brake. Had a 12" Cruzee for years which has been quality, although only the youngest child has ever really taken to it and now he refuses to try and pedal even though he's clearly big enough to.

Spuds parboiled and in the fridge, brussel sprouts shaved (I'll add clementine zest, juice, chestnuts, butter and maybe some nutmeg tomorrow before microwaving) and bread sauce made.

Just have to peel carrots and parsnips tomorrow before roasting them along with the spuds.

I've just cooked the ham, will glaze and roast tomorrow. Have the roast potatoes and croquettes made and cooked too, they'll go in the air fryer tomorrow. Trifle and cheesecake done also. Just need to boil the sprouts in some ham water now and the rest will be done tomorrow.

Thread has reminded me of how I learnt how to ride a bike.

Was visiting my aunts estate which was a load of flats built around a pyramidesque grass hill. My 'uncle' put me on a BMX at the top of said hill repeatedly until I didn't fall off. A few years later he stopped turning up to family events and I was later informed that he'd been sent down for using kids to sell Heroin outside of schools. Good memories.

Wahey! With my other relatives experience with Birmingham police, not paying them off was the bigger flaw in the plan.
