Every time a new version of a language predicting model (or image generation model) comes out, someone comes up with something that they cannot do, which DEFINITIVELY PROVES that these models are shit and not truly intelligent and nothing to worry about. Then a few months later the new version comes out and it can do that thing they couldn't do before just fine.
Image generation is still nightmare fuel to me. It shits faces.

Had my first ChatGPT fail today as we simply couldn’t get some conditional formatting working as planned in Excel. I gave it the Alan Sugar “you’re fired” and closed the tab in a huff. I’m sure we’ll make friends next time I cba figuring something out.

Meanwhile our working relationship continues to thrive. I was worried it would make the exact fluffy general skillset that has seen me thrive redundant but as with google, the level of the user can massively improve on the default output and effectiveness of it. At least that's still the case for ChatGPT-4.

What related tools are you using Magic?
Mem (also now has a chatbot) and ChatGPT (both premium).
I was all for paying for ChatGPT but it seems like there is zero benefit. If it allowed longer prompts or file uploads (ie paste a 70 page document and tell it to summarise it) I’d be throwing money at it. But “faster responses during periods”? Nah I’ll sit a watch the dots.

Correction to my post above, I don't pay for this shit so I'm using 3.5 and I too can't see why I would pay for it.
What's Mem doing that ChatGPT isn't? I only have Bard and ChatGPT to compare and it's clear to me the latter is superior, is Mem just the same sort of minor upgrade?
First impression is that Mem is just ChatGPT embedded into a fairly standard but neat note taking app like Evernote. I basically have an assistant that can spitball template ideas with me while I write them etc, and also can be called in within the notes themselves.

As an AI model, I can explain the advantages of improvements in newer versions in general terms, but as of my last training data in September 2021, GPT-4 had not been released, so I can't provide specific improvements GPT-4 has over GPT-3.5.
I think it's GPT. The beauty of Mem is the more shit you chuck in it the better it gets. It was good without the bot but now it's a different gravy.
I'll take the plunge on mem tomorrow.
Tell you what I really need, though. Something to stop my Teams status changing to away whilst AI does all the work.
Open a chat with someone. Click on the type a message part. Put a weight on your Insert key. I found a Vape or a USB phone battery charger works well.
Teams thinks you're typing but it doesn't send a 'This person is typing' prompt.
An unlikely candidate but you might end up being my hero.
Make sure to remove it every once in a while because someone who doesn't go away once in a days work is as suspicious as a permanently away person.

Yesterday it was just pulling and reorganising data. Nothing major but it definitely saved me a couple hours. I need to have another play with Agentgpt.reworkd.ai as that could be revolutionary with GPT pro.
All fun and games until you get rumbled and the company permanently replaces you.
I'd like to see AI trick Teams in to thinking it's working away.
Out of interest lads do your companies not have rules on AI usage yet? I don't think it could do my job anyway as we have so many contradictory agreements and illogical changes to implement, but even if it could letting an outside company sniff our data would likely be gross misconduct.
The away teams trick is immense though.
I'd imagine the Special Secrets Act covers me. Not that I've got a use case for any of this.

Yes I am sure these new start ups will securely manage all the data they handle and won't use it for their own ends.
As an employee let me just check that on the things I give a fuck about.
For Teams status, I think it was Baz who inspired me to copy some macro from reddit that pressed the down cursor key every second. I just run that for the majority of my working day.

I don't work for a private company so most of what I use is already in the public eye, but I have thought about how to go about it for the odd bits of confidential information. Could just abbreviate everything like mad then fill it in after.
I am using ChatGPT. You still have to hold it's hand a bit and correct some stuff, but it's great for reformatting things too.
This morning I've been impressed with it's ability to write letters so that's another big win.
A month ago I'd have been so keen to share these efficiencies but since my manager didn't believe me when I had norovirus she can enjoy being stressed whilst I sit around plotting her demise.
Was chatting to some bloke today who built up his own "consultancy firm" offering to bid for grants and stuff on behalf of companies, on the proviso he gets a percentage, on his own. He now just uses ChatGPT, doesn't even bother rewriting what it spits out cos he puts about 20 mins into writing a detailed prompt, and he said he's doing better than ever.Also uses it to split up the money received into a budget, showing where to spend it and how much. Stealing a living. Fair play, Greg.
