I suspect a lot of this is a result of 3 differing tyre types on the starting grid. George getting no traction there really was the catalyst for all of that.

The sustainability crowd
Pity they weren’t all run over.
I believe the ruling is that when a red flag is flown, the race order reverts back the the last completed lap. As we haven't had one, it's back to Qualy order.
What is this racing? Bring back the street circuits.
Bottled.
Sainz shat himself there.
Latifi in 8th. Heck. Might be 7th now for that puncture.
Had he even got a puncture?
Maybe suspension? Probably power unit. Bodywork, apparently.
I love the tone of the engineer basically telling him to fuck up and get on with it.
Charles is faster than you.
Zhou declared fit. The halo's proving a godsend in crashes where the roll hoop's collapsed.
Cheering someone overtaking Verstappen for 8th is a bit small time, at least wait until he gets lapped.
Perez.
Happy for Sainz, but he was lucky after that early fuckup.
That was incredible.
Yeah, incredible racing. Looking like Moto 2 for a while there.
Leclerc was my driver of the day. His defending on these hard tyres was sensational.
I switched over after the commentary group were pure cert on a Hamilton win when he was closing on LeClerc. Where did he finish after?
3rd. He, Perez and LeClerc were scrapping which allowed Sainz to get a gap.
What’s with the capital C in Leclerc all of a sudden?
Good race.
Hamilton has definitely had the short end of the incident luck this year. Every time he gets himself into a reasonable offset position someone breaks down and fucks him over. Didn't help himself on the restart though. That Ferrari message about leaving 10 cars was lol and got the requisite response from Sainz. Erm, grazie mille but no, are you mad?
Is that Sainz first win? I seen it was first pole but did he get a mclaren win?
Ferrari are a complete shambles of a team. If something can be fucked up, they’ll make a good go of it.
I flip between them.
I’ve always thought it was LeClerc. Either works better than being a mong and thinking he’s your mate with the Charles crap that is infested F1.
It's Leclerc. The other is how yanks would spell it, e.g. Matt LeBlanc.
I missed this, someone said Zhou ended up on his head.
Uh.
Would it have rolled or something pre-halo? I can't remember seeing a skid of that distance in the old days.
Might've rolled if the roll hoop hadn't already caved.
I do remember them remarking that it was strange it didn’t roll sooner when they finally showed it. It was ages before they knew he was out and ok.
Yeah the roll hoop was already gone before he even hit the gravel. He was probably dead a few times over without the Halo.
The roll hoop was fine, it just lost the airbox, the roll back off the fence was probably the most useful bit for the halo.
That was a cracker.
So in investigating all aspects of the porpoising going on, the FIA have found that some teams are actually flexing the floor/plank way above their intended margin. The teams haven't done anything wrong technically, but it's another one of those 'rules as written' vs 'rules as intended' arguments.
The teams involved are believed to be Red Bull and Ferrari. All teams have been given until the French GP to conform too.
There's potential that Hamilton getting a bad back in Baku could lead to Mercedes being a front runner again, assuming the Red Bull/Ferrari fixes slow the car down a bit.
Yeah I saw this the other day. It’s a really clever workaround to be honest but as you said, Ferrari and Red Bull seem to be the worst offenders.
Hadn't checked the points standings for a while. Ferrari have done a woeful job with the speed they have.
Lando to Merc must be in play at some point, depending on how long LH can be arsed to continue.
We've got these exact regulations for 2 more years after this one, right? I suspect he'll see what kind of car Mercedes can give him by the end of the year before deciding.
2026 is more about engine changes, I thought? Unless they've left the prospect of another aero overhaul open.
Perhaps we can have another secret deal like last time Ferrari definitely weren't cheating.
Getting a competitive advantage by having bits of your car flex when they're not meant to for half a season before the FIA catches up to you seems to be a fairly standard practice now.
Only for the last 30 years or so.
Proper qualy at 4pm today don't forget.
