    Robot Hoovers

Anyone have one? What type? Is it any good?

Thinking of getting one for when I move house as I fucking hate hoovering and need to do it quite often thanks to cat hair.

I've got one of these but it's useless at cleaning.

I want to get one. The Wirecutter have a decent guide but it's a pain because their device versioning numbers are idiotic.

You can get robot lawnmowers too, I saw the other day.

Similarly, I’d quite like a robot lawn mower.

Hoovering is less hassle though, so never seen the appeal of a robot vacuum cleaner at all.

We had a Eufy RoboVac 12 until recently. Had to get rid when we got a dog as she wouldn't leave it alone.

Really good, though. Surprising how much they actually pick up.

Can't you just hire someone to do the cleaning once a week?

We got one, it's really great actually. Just turn it on and off it goes. It's pretty quiet too.

Do they know when they're done or do they just search for dirt until they die if you don't turn them off?

They don't search for dirt, they scan the space and go everywhere they fit. I assume they'd go round and round endlessly if you let them.

It was SvN's post about his robot lawnmower that prompted me to start this thread.

I could but then I'd have the awkwardness of sitting on my arse while someone cleans around me.

You can sit in a different room to the one being currently cleaned then.

Ours just goes everywhere in the room and then stops automatically. You might be able to change the settings though.

Whenever somebody mentions these I say 'I knew somebody whose dad bought one of those, and he was dead within the year'. I'm not sure whether it was within the year, and it was his stomach cancer that killed him, but everyone always asks how the hoover killed him.

    Prime directives:

    1. Hoover.
    2. Cure cancer but only after you've finished hoovering.

This reminds me, we had a guy at work who's birthday was February 29th. When the card came round one of the others wrote "My aunt was born on a leap year and she's dead now. Good luck."

Fucking sick of that cunt Henry peeking round a corner at me that he stubbornly refuses to manoeuvre around.
