Huge effort from Giles Scott.
Huge effort from Giles Scott.
Belgian lad in the Decathlon long jump pulled his hamstring whilst attempting his run but he hobbled back and then tried again:
Had to roll out of the sand pit and then be put into a wheelchair.
400m hurdles delivering again.
McLaughlin sets a new World Record and Muhammad in silver also beat the previous record.

I read a stat that the Norwegian who set the WR did the 400m hurdles faster than 23 blokes in the 400m sprint.
That should be the accepted form for long jumping.
I don't really understand how he's done that, has he somehow tripped on take-off whilst airborne?
It should be the furthest mark you can make that counts, rather than the behind-most. The Superman technique would win out.
The pole in the climbing a second ago was unreal. Just incredible speed.
Was that skater not supposed to secure Gold? Fuck off back to America.
I'm fully here for the French lodging a protest against the gold medal-winning British sailors. Keep trying lads, it's been a 400 year dry spell on the seas but your luck's got to change some time.
Ignore me, forgot that she did actually get one lift above her head even though it didn't count.
Russia are staying as classy as ever though.

They're a lovely bunch.
There's a documentary by Reggie Yates on iPlayer about the LGBT community over there. It's mental.
Somewhere in the remote Siberian village of Mikhailovka there's a couple of dons lolling at a bunch of gammons who don't find the idea of this geezer competing in the women's weightlifting event mental. Regardless of having worked her/zir/eir/vis bollocks off to get there.
Anybody riding a horse for sport or leisure is a psycho. I'm surprised they're carrying on with it at the Olympics given it's clearly animal abuse.
KJT's Achilles has gone again.
Maybe we shouldn't have sent so many injured athletes?
The Muller curse.
Georgian lad gets an Olympic record with his first snatch
Previous record was 204 and he comes out at 208.
He's just done 215 like it was nothing.
And makes 223 (a new World Record) look easy.

And a WR in the clean & jerk, what a man.
De Grasse looked brilliant there. I didn't think he had that time in him and thought one of the Americans would rise up.
Surprised Knighton was so far out of it, perhaps nerves got to him.
This Georgian lad is a hero. 3 world records there in about 15 minutes. He only looked remotely troubled in his last lift.
Artistic Swimming is fully mental.
Have they brought in a men's event yet in that? I said handball was camp, but men's synchro would be full on Starlight Express.
On the horsey stuff I find the horse/rider divide interesting.
In 'eventing' we care about the rider but in racing it's all about the horse, is that a class divide do we think? Upper class horse stuff it's about the rider but for the proles getting rinsed by the bookies it's just about the horse. Point to point might have to be the exception that proves the rule.
I'm going with yes.
Unexpectedly ungammon opinion from me: having watched some of the climbing and skateboarding, they seem to me like perfect fits for the Olympics and brilliant additions.
I'm undecided on the climbing. Skateboarding has been really fun though and does fit.
An easier question might be finding what doesn't fit. Although you don't really know until the committee figures out a format.
Equestrian bullshit.
You could shave about 20% and replace it with stuff from the X Games. It would be so much better.
Anyone followed the 3v3 basketball?
Even that is probably ok. Can't be worse than beach volleyball.
Proper paedo moustache from a Spaniard in the skateboarding today. Just the look you want in a sport with a lot of youngsters.
The Americans were clearly in 1st gear for the 1st two quarters... Unstoppable now.
Where can I watch last nights women’s park skateboarding?
I'm a twit
Big fan of the very loud "Fuck Yeah" from the Aussie Moloney at realising he's won bronze. Just as the cameraman decided to walk up to him.
Not too keen on the sport climbing scoring system.
It feels weird that Ondra dropped from the gold medal position to sixth just because the Austrian lad (who took bronze) ended up beating him in the lead climb.
Yeah it was an absolute shambles lol.
Why do they call it 'sport climbing'? Is other climbing not a sport?
The random Spanish lad won because he came first in the speed section, which was a knockout bracket in which he faced the worst speed climber, and two opponents who fell off or false started. He recorded the fifth fastest speed time. He was the worst of the lot over the two other disciplines. Speed shouldn't even be in the combined event.
The names don't make much sense. Sport climbing is generally a broad term used to refer to non-competitive climbing done outdoors with ropes and fixed anchors (there are many sub-categories).
I don't know why it's called that but in any case it's not the same as what goes on in indoor competitions such as this Olympic one.
