I'll just let you imagine I've done a big tedious Beer Bore post about whether Americans 'win' at craft beer and that this is you already having scrolled past it.

I don't know if I've ever had proper American cheese but a quesadilla recipe from that Babish fella popped up my Youtube recommendations and he was talking about using Monterey Jack because it ends up with a mozzarella-esque stretchiness once it's melted. But if that's the selling point there surely you'd just mozzarella? Though I suppose that's pricier and if you're bunging it in with actual cheddar as he did maybe it makes less of a difference.

I'm sure decent American cheese exists, you just have to go there to find it as it has been essentially banned from Europe forever by trade tariffs.

If it does, they do a tremendous job of hiding it whilst smothering everything in the unholy trinity of 'Jack', 'American cheese' and 'Swiss cheese'.

Yeah, their basic mass cheese is shit (and 'cheesefood' is unforgivable) but then so is their basic mass beer.

    "Cheesefood"?

Is that just some sort of 'genuine cheese-like substance' horror?

American cheese is shit. Mozza is the way to go. Burrata even more so.

Can Team Food Snob calm down please? 'American' cheese on a six inch meatbull sub is a very decent lunch option.

Never been a big fan of Burrata, the cream is a major disappointment.

I don't really know what the technical definitions are, but I always thought cheesefood was that mad shit they have like spray cheese, which may or may not have ever contained or encountered actual dairy products.

I feel like we're veering towards the sort of territory where it's time for me to post that picture of the canned turkey again.

I've just googled spray cheese and found a video of a woman doing an eating challenge of 12 pounds of the stuff. I'd link you but the police might get me.

Burrata is big boy tings. Drop one on a plate alongside tomatoes and drizzle in oil and basil.

I remember them having melted (fake plastic) cheese as a dipping option at some shit airport place I went to in Chicago. Hideous.

The Dutch cheese situation is abysmal here too. I have to go to the local Expat shop to stock up on decent cheddar, but even that is a nightmare because Brexit has fucked the Cathedral City import business (sunlit uplands, my arse).

    No one has mentioned Velveeta.

It's a huge block of processed cheese which has to be described as a cheese product.

Someone brought a can of those burgers in to work (for a joke) for the Christmas Raffle once. They come in fucking gravy. Absolutely honking.

The one I posted is one of the "better" ones, there are a wide variety and yeah, the gravy ones look horrendous.

I think that's the exact brand he brought in.

Who is the fucking market for those? I've seen some atrocities in my time but that's next level. Even Samadini is thinking twice.

Are you putting canned burgers in the same league as Rustlers burgers? Or is the latter more acceptable?

Rustlers is basically BurgerKing compared to that shit.

And I don't say that just because of the quality difference, but because I have witnessed BurgerKing microwaving their burgers too.

This is the man who gets a load of different stuff at the Chinese and mixes it into one unidentifiable blob. I shudder to think what depths of culinary depravity he might be prepared to sink to.

Bought some Bacon from the Butcher yesterday and forgot to put it in the fridge. It smells fine, will I die if I eat it?

Sealed package and the room was probably a little lower than regular room temperature.

It'll be fine, but wouldn’t fridge it now. This is as good excuse as any to consume the whole pack in one sitting.

Why wouldn't you put it in the fridge now?

I put it straight in there as I'm having it tomorrow.

Also I got it from the butcher so bought the amount I want/need for a single sitting.

I'd lob it if it was some cheap supermarket shit but the butcher will have cured it fully.
