As with all cults, most of them are probably poorly educated idiots as the majority of nonsense is bred through ignorance, some will be pwopa racists, some will be mentally ill and some will be drawn to power. The phrase mentally ill brings about the idea of a cure though which I don't agree with although you could probably put some sort of mental illness diagnosis at the majority of them.
