I'm all for it. Delivers a decent ball, should be good for 5+ years, and also I've been watching Marcos Alonso for what seems like half my adult life so it would be nice to watch us have a left back rather than a left knee on skis.

Not sure if he takes Alonso's place in the dreamy eyes XI, it's a close run thing. Werner's addition could be a blow to the franchise if it denies Giroud valuable dreamy eyes pitch time.

It seems a bit odd to be in for him if it’s going to be anything over £60m. It’s not like there’s a lack of English players to fill that quota.

Twitter sez they’re still after Havertz too. Should be more worried about a centre half.

City must be sniffing around for a leftback so you'd have to think the money for Chilwell will be insane.

Sounds like the Van De Beek stuff has legs. He was all but off to Madrid but something seems to have happened and Ajax has offered him to us.

If it goes through it'll see me lose my bet over Grealish I imagine but I'm all for it.

Van de Beek has flop and loan move to Turkey in a couple of years written all over him.

I believe the talk is Madrid is backing out of it because Covid's hit them hard and they're having second thoughts.

I've heard they asked him to wait til next summer and he and Ajax have got fed up with Madrid's dallying and offered him to us. If Real pull their finger out he may well still go there.

They buy at least one big ticket fullback every year for some reason. They can biff Zinchenko to Leicester as part of the deal. They paid god knows what for Iheanacho so I'd imagine they'd be well up for one of those not-at-all suss we'll buy X for Y and you buy Z for ? (profit!) deals.

I have no idea what Joao Cancelo does, but I think he's a rightback. Mendy can't be relied upon.

They won the league with Zinchenko and then they bought some bald Spaniard whose name not so much escapes me as just isn't in my head to begin with.

Especially with how teams play, attacking full backs in the Bundesliga look incredible.

As do pacy wingers who get 50 yards of space to run into behind the absurdly high lines, not that anyone would be stupid enough to overpay for Jadon Sancho.

Hopefully the lure of playing for Super Frankie Binman will outweigh the chance to strap on the, well, the strap-on, and the famous red armband in the dungeon with Max Mosley.

Looking at FC Brian's forward options, they are a little bit light in the futures department, so I suppose they need to wring a few more years out of Muller and Lewandowski. If 'Jan Fiete Arp' was going to Muller his way through the next decade, you'd think he would have started doing so by now.

    Caballero
    James - Tomori - Rudi - Chilwell
    Kante - Gilmour
    Messi - Havertz - Pulisic
    Werner

Should be good for 9th or so and a League Cup quarter-final.

Jamal Blackman is still on the books so it's probably time for us to make a real statement. Obviously he'll have to let Raheem score past him as a mark of respect, but other than that we'll be sorted.

Wiki suggests he absolutely tore it up for PSV in 17/18 (14 in 28 from midfield) before also then tearing up his knee (for the billionth time).

    Poor lad.

Havertz is extremely versatile; he can play anywhere in front of the centre midfield essentially (even as a striker).

Presumably this Chelsea transfer policy is a retaliation against all the German teams trying to buy up their young prospects last year.

That said, Werner seems to have gone quiet from being a done deal. That always used to worry me when I was extremely concerned with such matters, stemming from, probably, the Lee Bowyer debacle.

Real Madrid also stuck in a £72m bid but with the option for Havertz to stay on loan in Leverkusen for a season.

Apparently. Although the commentators were talking about it at the weekend so I imagine it's more than just tabloid bullshit.
