I've seen pieces saying 'clubs still spending billions, WHAT COVID?' but you look at the likes of Barca and Real's disgraceful squads and likes of Tarkowski, Benrahma and the big EPL clubs' bloated squads and it's pretty clear to me the impact it's had even at the top level.
The BILLIONS shtick is particularly silly given it's generally the same money just moving from club-to-club. Liverpool sell Brewster to Sheff Utd for $30m, they then use that $30m to buy Mbappe, and PSG use that $30m to purchase Sander Berge. Suddenly, its ALMOST $100m SPLASHED ON COVID TRANSFERS!
Also you never know how these deals are structured and it's the same with player contracts.

Whilst I can sort of see Cavani being alright for United (providing he isn't a wreck) their transfer policy is pretty fucking unfathomable. I'm also slightly sceptical about the feasibility of him, Fernandes, Pogba and a pick of two of the wide forwards (not to mention Donny) being workable in a side if you have any desire to not be completely overrun.
It seems increasingly likely Pogba's going to be asked to stink up the joint as a 6/DM.

Cavani is the Ighalo replacement by the sounds of it. I can't say I'm thrilled with it, but at least it's only a short term contract.
