I'm struggling to see where all of these football teams are finding the cash for mega money deals this summer.
I'm struggling to see where all of these football teams are finding the cash for mega money deals this summer.
I know right? It's almost unheard of to see football clubs act financially irresponsibly.
I know they *can* but not usually on a backdrop of mass refunds and potential half filled stadiums due to covid19.
United (or any team) spending a nine figure sum on a footballer is just not going to happen until we are well clear of covid.
The talk is probably agents spinning a yarn.
Nicaraguan bumbag sponsorships, mate.
Covid will, absolutely certainly, depress the entire football economy (which has been in a tulip boom as it is). TV rights values were plateauing anyway and will now drop hard, especially if there are no or few fans in grounds for an extended period. If United want to dump Ł110 million on Jadon Sancho, they no doubt have the funds to do so but they will quickly find he is worth Ł60 million in six months' time. Why would you make that business decision?
If they thought he would make THAT much of a different, they're not planning to sell him ever and are liquid enough then they might.
Not saying it's a good idea but if United are one of a few who still have money to throw about I'm guessing they'd try and get a leg up with a relative lack of competition.
And if transfer genius Ed Woodward thinks it's a good idea who am I to argue?
The Premier League should just sell the rights themselves. Online season pass for $100. 50m people sign up - $5bn-a-season. Easy peasy.
If they do that then there's an onus on them to spend to produce their own programming.
Hassenhuttl has just signed a new four year deal. This is fantastic news.
There were rumours doing the rounds thay we needed to sell 5 or more first team players just to balance the books. Apparently there is a law in place to stop our Chinese owner investing any of his money in the club.
Cant be as bad as people think if the manager has signed up for another four years.
Matty Longstaff's had an offer from Udinese.
I'll look forward to him turning out for Watford.
If I was Matty, I'd be disappointed in that. Still bumping up from Ł800 a week to Ł30k is class.
Werner to Chelsea according to Blid. Liverpool tried to get the government to pay their wages, no danger they’re paying Ł60m so it makes sense.
Leipzig flapping.
Liverpool think they can get him for cheaper once the transfer window opens, so trying to push us into paying the clause(expires in 10 days I believe).
It's a steal for Chelsea if it does happen however.
I can't personally see why Liverpool wouldn't bid. He's very publicly flirted with us and we haven't signed anyone besides Minamino since summer 2018, whilst taking in record TV money etc. I can't believe the money wouldn't be there.
A quick Google suggests it cost them Ł1bn all-in. This was done on the basis it became a hub for other sports(NFL and Rugby made agreements to play matches there), along with a concert venue.
I'd say COVID has fucked them there.
I'd take Ings back over Werner. Pace merchant in a league with no intent to defend. No thanks.
In a rather bleak sign of the times, Gateshead's fans are tying to bolster their transfer funds from crowdfunding.
Chelsea signing Werner would be some serious expenditure on top of Ziyech. Speaking of him, have they binned things off in the Netherlands and does that mean he can sign for Chelsea and play for them when things resume or is the transfer window on hiatus at the moment? Chuck in Pulisic and that's about €150m on 3 flouncy attackers from leagues of dubious merit.
I prefer those type of signings. Raid the best players from the teams in the tier(s) below.
Its better than bringing in 'used to be ok Philip Coutinho' or 'scored goals for 10 years and might be about to expire Edison Cavani'
I don't understand how we have the moolah to be flinging Ł60 million at Leipzig.
You're ran by a Russian oligarch.
Marina has Chelsea as the best run team by a fair bit in the league. They rarely ever make losses and even with horrible signings they seem to recoup the money.
She’ll make another big signing or two whilst the majority of the other clubs do nothing.
They've definitely got some sort of network they can fall back on when they need to sell Oscar for Ł60m or get Real to stump up insane money for a player running out of contract.
On that point, the 'big 2' in Spain haven't half had some shockers in recent seasons.
I've no real idea about Werner, but Ł49m doesn't seem majorly mad even in these 'new normal' times.
What the sweet fuck is Werner going to do at ours barely getting minutes off the bench behind Harvey Elliot and Naby? Go destroy your career under Lamps, lad.
I felt like Long had been at Southampton for about a million years. So to check and see it's only 6 was quite odd. It does feel like he always scores against Liverpool too.
The more I dig into Liverpool journo Twitter, it seems like it's a done deal to Chelsea. Liverpool won't pay the clause. Can't pretend I'm not disappointed as I like him a lot, but the place would get very cluttered with Origi and Minamino there with Elliott to squeeze in as well.
Is minamino a real name or one of those silly nicknames that all players seem to have now (firmino)?
Real name.
Takumi Minamino.
He was surely just number 1 replacement for one of the front three leaving and COVID has prevented that so he can take his dull Aryan self away from these ends. If he could somehow get Leipzig to take Mini off our hands, I'd also be grateful as I've got no time for Asians outside the motherland.
Someone's just reminded me of AFCON next year ffs. Jurgen out.
It'll get called off, right?
Nope.
Qualification matches get back under way at the end of August.
Firmino is Bobby.
The 1918 Pandemic happened because an Animal Virus and a Human virus 'merged' within a human host and created a more deadly and more infectious strain.
Ladies and Gentlemen: Meet the EbonaVirus.
Chelsea are balls deep in for Chilwell. I honestly think he's dogshit.
Yeah he’s a pretty average performer. As with Maguire not overly bothered to see him go as long as we get more than he’s worth and replace well. Managed to improve after Maguire and got Ł80m so not expecting that again but who knows.
