I’d have watched it but there’s no way to get ITV on the telly here now.

ITV Hub not available?
When you look at the squads, that Czech side was actually rubbish, so I'm curious to see how they scammed their way past Italy and France. In fact all the squads are a bit rubbish. The Dutch were a couple of years away (and Dutch); Spain were average; and Italy were weak in midfield. The Germans were short on QUALITY, but there was still enough shithouse left in the tank to get them over Good Football nonces like Croatia, who would probably have sent the Czechos packing in the quarters had they not inexplicably sandbagged their final group game and walked straight into a Fuhrer Directive. France had the best squad, but as if they were ever going to do anything this side of the water.
I never understood the interest in the major international tournaments but then Wales happened and wow, amazing. I would probably have jumped on it a lot more if I didn't feel such a fraud for barely being even a part time fan of the national game.
On the old terrestrial signal you got either BBC 1&2 NI, UTV, and C4 or BBC 1&2 Wales, HTV, and S4C depending on where you lived. When digital arrived we had the same plus the extras (ITV2, E4, etc) and still have most but we had a channel launched here called UTV Ireland (mostly the same as UTV/ITV but with Irish news and all) and your ITV went off the list. When UTV Ireland went wallop and got swallowed up by Virgin Media ITV never appeared back. Most of the programmes like Coronation Street, Emmerdale, Pop Idol, The Chase, etc get shown by Virgin Media 1, 2, or 3 anyway.
We never had access to iPlayer (RIP BBC3) or ITV Player but somehow 4OD always worked.
I reckon Spain should have come pretty close to winning this, but got conned out of it by us.
Why weren't Yugoslavia in it? Were they still banned? They must have had a handy side around then.
While researching the answer to that, found this, which was news to me:

'A neutral venue'
Actually I’d forgotten that current Serbia were called Yugoslavia for a while after the splits weren’t they?
They were still Yugoslavia in football terms until at least 2002 I think, maybe 2004. Turns out they 'did not enter' Euro 96 qualifying due to being suspended by the United Nations.
At that time they would have had Mihajlovic, Milosevic, Mijatovic... better than what Croatia and Czech Republic could field, surely.
Tito-era Yugoslavia probably wins this and the subsequent World Cup.
Didn't we used to say imagine if Yugoslavia had the steely Serbs, the Croatian flair and the Bosnian front line, or something?
"C'mon lads. Can we not agree on something?"
I prefer it now. Lots of little chancer countries to scare a point out of England in qualifiers.
If you put a side together now you're looking at Dusan Tadic as a false nine, and then you either back him up with Nemanja Matic anchoring an atrocious 4-1-4-1 and playing for penalties; or you field a back three, throw any six of their excellent five foot midfield fannies out there, and you still end up going out in the quarter-finals to somebody shit like Sweden or South Korea.
Modric, Pjanic, Rakitic, SMS midfield diamond. Woof.

Spain Bulgaria on.
I'm going to need to find a way to have these on while I'm working. I assumed my old PS3 would have an ITV app but apparently not.
Need to get me a third monitor.
Dyche spoke the other day saying it sounded pretty much like pre-season training as usual. There's been a lot of proper shrieky headlines.
All Bundesliga games on BT Sport till the end of the season
We need a dedicated thread for the Vorsprung Durch Foosball. We got 4 days to get prepped in knowledge for the betting ffs. I think first game is the Schalke-Dortmund derby too
Overs accumulators. There used to be one team per year that bothered to defend (often Cologne) but this year I think it's zero.
Great equaliser from Sa Pinto in the evening game.
Another 0-0 to make it 2 from 4. Great tournament so far.
Who d'you reckon's gonna win, Keeks? Is it coming home?
Terry and the LADS wouldn't disappoint the nation...would they?
France looking decent at the moment to be fair v the Romanians. Was impressed by the Germans (naturally) and the Dutch (despite not scoring).
Could be any of those I'd say.
I'm actually quite looking forward to the Scotland game on Sunday.
I'm going full Randrew for a second with our takeover: Possible boycott from the other 19 teams.
May 14 Italy vs Russia 3pm ITV Hub
May 14 Croatia vs Turkey 7pm ITV Hub
Two more games today. See if the Azzuri can bounce back from losing in the WC Final. Young forward Del Piero should be interesting but not sure he can get in against Casaraghi, Chiesa, Ravenelli, Zola. Another to watch in defence with Maldini and Costacurta is young Nesta.
Chance to see Boban in the flesh and Alen Boksic. Also a couple of English based players, Stimac and Bilic.
Italy were in proper flux at this time weren't they, stuck between the remnants of the '94 team, and the first knockings of the side that would go on to win in 2006.
I can't watch it for that reason. I would maybe watch football from a past season when I genuinely don't know what happens. But there probably isn't footage of any such season or tournament.
A 1980s Copa America, maybe.
Alright Tim Vickery.
I'll trouble you to pronounce my username correctly: Je-heemi Floy-ji.
Fair play to the cunt. Harry Kane will sponsor the Leyton Orient shirt next year.
Good win in the end by Italy. Casaraghi and Zola were bright up front and great option to have Ravenelli to come on to put Russia on the back foot. Bit poor defensively and Peruzzi should have saved it. Maybe the best I've seen so far from an attacking pov.
Kanchelskis was bright for Russia.
Italy 2-1 Russia.
Lively match in Nottingham but neither Croatia or Turkey have managed to open the scoring. Prosinecki and Boban are pretty fearsome behind Boksic and Suker.
Great goal Vlaovic to win the game. Suicidal defending.

Blatantly wanted the lube and smartly chucked in the toothpaste as cover.
He has great Bundesliga manager energy in that photo. Few more years on him, plus a well-chosen wig, and he can really resemble some of the greats:

I remember him being amazing on one of the earlier CMs, but I think it may have been a random database effort.
Heiko Herrlich? He was great for Dortmund in CM2. Better than Riedle which made Liverpool's purchase of him all the more staggering. Only 5 international caps and a goal against Wales, though (a Euro 96 qualifier). It goes back to what England had with strikers. Germany had plenty to choose from.
Actually, his numbers are shit. Scored 26 in a season with Monchengladbach (Effenberg's crosses must've been bang on) and then didn't break 10 in the league for the rest of his life. Dortmund's midfield did most of the work.
