He's not much better or worse than the rest of the midfield, I'd mostly blame it on Venables but the commentators don't half bang on about McManaman. It was a BIG RISK to bring him off after 109 minutes of the Spain game, presumably because they didn't think whoever was taking over on the right flank would have the accuracy to hit the first man with every cross.
As I said in another post the whole midfield was crap really, through a combo of individuals not stepping up and some WTF tactics from El Tel.
