It turns out like brown bread (what they’d call wheaten in NI).
It takes about a week to get the starter going but all you have to do is add some more flour and water each day. I don't think the actual baking process is any more difficult.
I was going to have a go at soda bread too but I can't find any baking soda in the shops. There's no yeast in the shops either.

Are Flahavan's good oats for porridge in general? I've heard they are but I'm a bit of a porridge virgin, fumbling in the sheets.
They're just the default brand here for the most part so I either buy them or own-brand (which are probably them anyway). Didn't even know they were exported.

Taught my folks how to use skype tonight. Went quite well after taking nearly an hour on the phone with my dad earlier talking him through installing it and signing up.
Was nice to see them and be able to talk to them both at the same time. And having my mum actually be able to hear me instead of when we're on the phone and Inhave to repeat everything about three times getting progressively louder each time.

I’m finally going to get to wash the vehicle tomorrow, it’s fucking manky, as I normally do it in my Da’s but that’s been a fair while now. A big order of stuff finally landed after a week “out for delivery” and I spent the second half of today plumbing in an outside tap at work.

We showed my parents how to use Zoom for a family pub quiz tonight. They installed everything fine and managed to get it working eventually, but went wrong somewhere and cut off after about two minutes. My grandma was similar.
It was quite enjoyable really, except I had to spend half the time sending the questions via WhatsApp to my dad. We came last (22/50), my sister and her fiance won (38). I was practically doing it myself though whilst my partner sat crocheting.
Mines due a service too but the dealer is closed. I need to find out some way of it’s covered if it goes wallop in about 5000km’s time.
