I can't say I'm surprised and for me, it was an absolute no brainer as to that's where it came from the more time wore on.

I never said it wasn't from a lab, I said there was no evidence that it was. If they've found evidence then cool.
In personal news, I managed to bring COVID back from Barcelona and infect the wife and baby. Second time round felt like a pretty shitty cold but I'm over it after a week, the wife is still slightly feverish but it's her first time so probably hitting harder. Baby took it out in three days and is back to it.
Get vaxxed, please.
They've likely always had evidence that it was, but are deploying it now as they feel it's an apposite moment to piss off the Chinese.
Imagine the lawsuit if China came out and admitted it.
While we're at it:

Wearing masks in the community probably makes little or no difference to the outcome of influenza‐like illness (ILI)/COVID‐19 like illness compared to not wearing masks (risk ratio (RR) 0.95, 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.84 to 1.09; 9 trials, 276,917 participants; moderate‐certainty evidence.
There are still tinpot airlines down here making me wear masks. Is it some kind of legal arse-covering or what?
There are still tinpot professors demanding that their students wear masks in their classrooms over here. No due to arse-covering, but a combination of fear and stupidity.
Who knows why Latin American companies, or people for that matter, do the things they do.
Does it tally with their subject? I imagine anyone in an engineering field doesn't give a fuck, but anyone involved with the social sciences is still completely moist over it?
Definitely a lot more common in the good old Arts and Humanities, but we also have a few weirdos in Engineering left.
There are a lot of people here who are wearing them day to day. According to a taxi driver it's for autoproteccion, or in other words, the idiots think that wearing a mask makes them safer. I'm not sure that even mask proponents in the west think that.
In the west masks seem to be a left-wing favourite, I suppose they serve as an easy outlet for the platonic god complexes that exist in academia.
I saw one lad at a gig wearing one the other week. Front and centre so it's not like he had any fear of someone sneezing him to death. It's just a comfort blanket now.
We still have to wear them at work.
Well, we've seen your mugshot.
I didn't expect to be vindicated this much this soon.
Didn't everyone outside of Asia universally think masks were a waste of time [for anything other than vast procurement based bungs] from the get go?
Maybe worth adding that the report from the ENERGY department adds that their opinion is "low confidence".

Good on her. I got my refund almost immediately so it seems like it was all down to which call centre agent was on the line to you.
I've now come to a town where masks are almost universal because no one is vaccinated. Cracking stuff.
I mean.
Kik's, we've got another one. Get in here now and bring a 100 page study with you.
Nothing proves something right more than a jpeg of a headline and no link to the actual piece.
Lol I found the piece.

The takeaway is that if you're unvaccinated and don't get massively hospitalised or die the first time you get COVID, you're probably fine. However the vaccine provides you a small enough sample to not hospitalise you or kill you the first time you get it.
That guys Twitter makes him seem like a right tool.
Yeah, he's a famous crank but because he's black and agrees with GOP talking points he got elevated so they can say 'look even the black guy agrees with us'. For other examples see Jason Whitlock.
These back to back tweets made me laugh though.
That first one.
No fight for me to make. The fight is over, we have managed to get past COVID due to the SCIENCE.
I saw that 2 people died from Bird Flu last week in Cambodia.
Shit, literally ate a chicken burger at lunch, only 60km's from the Cambodian border.
RIP me.
Aren't governments, somewhat by default/definition, meant to act to prevent the smuggling of all things all the time?
Interesting thread.
The fucking state of that mans mug.
Some interesting rabbitholes to be ventured down there.
I'm definitely onboard with the idea that the Chinese have been entirely unhelpful and probably culpable [through accident/incompetence] in the whole shebang, but it'd be good to try and find a non-crank source to justify that line of thinking. Perhaps any descent into the whole 'gain of function' jargon, whilst entirely necessary, makes it seem a bit conspiratorial.
If it did come from a lab (it did) there will never be any proper evidence of this as China aren't interested in sharing it and the Western World (largely) aren't interested in looking for it. It's a major inconvenience that's better to label as a conspiracy theory.
Yeah, It did. I don't know why we're not just treating it as fact at this point. It either came from where it exists naturally, 1000 miles away from the 1st known cluster of cases, or from the lab, where they were studying it, a bus ride away. But yeah, there's no chance China ever put their hands up and say "yeah sorry lads, the work experience kid was doing lines from the petri dish", so it's just going to be another of histories accepted but unacknowledged lies.
Didn't some US government department (or intelligence agency?) publish a report saying it was a lab leak not that long ago?
Didn’t Trump say this while still in office and got shit on? The great man proved right again.
Just received an email from a client requesting negative Covid tests before entering the building. Also, masks required on all public transport.
Fuck off.
I don't need none of that shit nor any respectable vaccines for my entry on Saturday do I?
Not at the moment....
Are they starting to shit themselves again like?
Not quite yet.... but the 'c' word is started to re-enter the vernacular. There is a week holiday next week, so I think people are just shitting the bed about millions of folk returning to the countryside, catching something, then bringing it back to the city.
I've told my team if they feel sick, just stay at home - but don't test yourself. If you don't test, you can't be positive for Covid.
I found it very noticeable in South America how prominent covid still is in people's consciousness, whereas in Europe it is gone. The reason of course is that no one there (or at least in the shitter nations of Bolivia and Paraguay) is vaccinated, either because of stupid conspiracy theories, or useless government procurement, or both.
I don't know why people here are bothered, for one reason you mentioned... every fucker here IS vaccinated and if you do catch up - who fucking cares. It's killing nobody.
My wife's side of the family still test every time they sneeze. I'm not sure if they built up a massive haul while they were still free or if they're buying them. Either way, you can feel the rush they get as they post their picture of a positive test to the family groupchat.
I think it's basically an addiction at this point.

Someone at work is off this week with it. I doubt it's anything severe but our Client policy remains you stay away from site for 5 days so it's a free holiday essentially.
