This is an amazing article: https://www.theguardian.com/world/20...nt-of-covid-19

Just how worried should we be about this variant?
At present we do not know just how infectious it is...

If hospitalisations rise in coming weeks, will that inevitably lead to an increase in numbers of deaths?
We don’t know yet but that is something we are working on...

How long will it take to find out how worrying the prospects are for delaying the easing of lockdown?
We just don’t know yet just how much of a danger this is going to be...
    Thanks for clearing that up.

Not sure if I should risk the sauna tomorrow after my football as some experts have said we should ignore the lockdown easing measures. Anyone got any views on this predicament?

Couple of articles on Guard about the test certificate forgeries going on. Apparently they're spotting them because of spelling errors and errors with regard to passport numbers I could have made a killing if I had a laptop.

Luckily for you and others in a similar predicament, the BBC have a handy guide, brought to us by experts no less.

    Here's another one.

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-57136140

"Together we have reached another milestone in our roadmap out of lockdown, but we must take this next step with a heavy dose of caution," said the prime minister.

He added that "everyone must play their part - by getting tested twice a week, coming forward for your vaccine when called and remembering hands, face, space and fresh air".
Airborne Ebola would have ended society.

Playing Devils Advocate for a minute, I guess the tests are helpful insofar as monitoring the case : death ratio.

For both cases it relies on people following up a home test with a proper one anyway and I can't imagine too many people would. Especially if they're asymptomatic.

Plus, don't the majority of people do the tests wrong anyway?

Anyway, as you said, I can't imagine many people taking a test without symptoms regardless. If anything, the vaccine will see alot of people not bothering even if they do have symptoms.

Indeed. I understand why the government would push the idea of uncertainty around variants to get the religiously influenced minorities to have the vaccine, but there's a much bigger overlap on the shitting yourself Venn diagram than there should be.

The SCIENCE frauds seem to be revelling in this as well and enjoying a platform they simply shouldn't have as there's absolutely no balance to any of it.

Oh and you can chalk another death down to care environments, my Gran passed last night.

Having left hospital clear of the COVID she caught in a care home, she spent the last five weeks at home pretty poorly with a continual build up of fluid on her lungs before going back in again, by which time there wasn't anything they could do. Such a sad end to the life of an amazing 92 year old. If they've been vaccinated (mine never was) don't listen to these arse holes and hug your grandparents. They'll appreciate it so much more than the miniscule risk to their post vaccinated lives.

She slipped over in her garden in December and had to go into hospital for that, was recuperating in a care home afterwards in January but then caught COVID there and was never well enough to get the vaccine from there on in.

Shit, sorry to hear that Yev. My nan went into hospital after a fall recently. Once they go in at that age it seems very hard to get them out alive.

Sorry to hear Yev. My gran was in hospital/respite for 4 months after a fall in December 2019. She got out on March 14th 2020...I've no doubt that she would have died in there had she not got out.

Anyone else noticed the iPhone weather app just has it down as constantly raining 24/7 for the past 3 or 4 weeks? No matter where I look in the UK it seems to be the same. It’s been warm the last few days and hardly rained the past week. Some sort of covid conspiracy to keep us inside

The weather has been a joke for weeks. At the game I did on Saturday we had 4 separate rain delays, but it never got wet enough to call it off. Make your mind up ffs.

Yes you're right mate, bar a couple of days in October I think? Wasn't there a weekend where Angus was allowed then got pumped again? I know because I walked the 5 minutes to over the council line and ripped the arse out of it at the Milton.

Not sure. Been a Perthshire wanker since August. They kept allowing us to drink outside every 3 weeks from October to Christmas but don’t think we were allowed inside

Thanks gents. Very sweet of you all. She had a very good innings, just a shit way for her to go and a fuckety-fuck set of circumstances that led to it happening. When I heard last week that she was having to go back into hospital I knew that was it.

    Pep is probably right.

I only hug my wife and children.

There's probably some old family friends I'd be awkwardly forced into a hug with upon bumping into them, but that's about it.

People not touching me has been one of the few wins of Covid.

I doubt you're as honest as that. Smiling before the hug then only showing your true colours when you fully embrace, out of sight.

Jesus christ did the sauna deliver had a real moment of euphoria at one point. Unfortunately it was slightly tarnished by the fact I've done some serious damage to my thumb at football beforehand so couldn't fully immerse myself and focus on the sauna experience as I would have liked to. I'm still thinking it may kickstart my recovery of my taste and smell senses too, will keep you updated.
