I got 200 paracetamol in the post today. The doctor prescribed my Da 1000 after his last operation so they sent me up some.

All the old and the sick will die because no one can work, not from coronavirus, but from all the other things the army of doctors, nurses and care assistants keep at bay on a daily basis (starvation etc) so how exactly do you shut down everything?

Just stocked up on the carbs really. Got loads of booze though if I need to drink myself to death.

Did buy a massive chicken and mushroom pie though.

I’m hoping for more drink tomorrow in the hope the that all the dregs will have hit Lidl and Aldi and the good stuff will still be left in the off licence.

The theory goes that since its spread is inevitable, delaying the severe action will lead to a peak of x as opposed to 2x, 5x or 10x.

Since no one else is taking this approach (of major European countries), I guess we have to hope that our scientists don theirs on a scale not seen since we made those cheat suits for the skeleton bob.

And this is the bit I can't join the dots on, and as you've said, how does doing nothing lead to a peak of only x?

The only thing that came close to explaining it was that if you ask people to stay indoors for weeks they'll get bored and stop doing it, but they're not doing that now, so unless he's suggesting that the fit of boredom will lead to people pulling a Rudy Gobert en masse, it makes no sense - I watched and listened and I still don't understand.

I'm not saying shut everything as I appreciate a balance needs to be struck to keep society going, but I don't need to work in an office and my company aren't looking likely to force me not to until the government advice suggests I shouldn't, so why don't they take me and presumably millions of people like me out of the equation, with minimal impact?

If peak is May and that peak is 13 million people infected, I sure as shit won't be coming into the office at that point, whatever the advice is.

Whoever does get it first and I'd suggest it's looking very likely at least one of us will, I want a diary. I'll send supplies via Amazon to fund it.

I did my "panic buying" over ten days ago, like a proper don. Mostly because the good canned beans brand is barely stocked and there is no way I am eating fucking Goya beans.

I don't want to buy more than the usual amount of supplies but based on the massive wet fart from BoJo today I think it might be prudent to stock up in case the same thing happens a few weeks down the line except this time he's explaining why the army hasn't delivered everyone's rations yet.

Beans were my biggest but along with tinned tomatoes. I’ve enough spices to keep things interesting if the shit hits the fan.

I got lots of tomatoes as well. Tortillas too, but I already ate half of my stash.

Supermarkets were still fully stocked as of yesterday over here.

In Stockholm I went to the supermarket for the first time in a week or so expecting the shelves to be empty. Nope. Fully stocked. Fewer eggs than usual, but that was it

They’ve been raped here but I’ve at least a months worth bought. I’ll call in the odd day and buy and eat fresh so as not to dip into the stash until we are properly told to stay indoors.

They were talking today about how we'll have "clean nurses" and "dirty nurses" when it hits properly.

Every time someone says "dirty nurse" - SPLOOSH.

I've grabbed a few things for the weekend but I'll grab some tinned stuff for when I come back. Our Tesco looks to be untouched by student panic. More Pot Noodles for me, then.

If the queue is that long properly stock up.

We’ve been released “from the obligation to go to mass”

There’s also a limit of a hundred on funerals with only family and close friends if possible.

I can't quite see how this gets to a point that it disrupts the food supply to any serious degree, but people had to have lettuces rationed not too long ago so it's no surprise that they're still idiots.

Our Chancellor (read: PM) has already recommended reducing all social contact to a minimum and also cancel all family events. They're announcing new measures tomorrow. People are undergoing mandatory "health checks" when crossing the border from Italy, but I can't help but think that with the amount of cross-border traffic going on between Austria and Italy, we must have thousands of undetected cases by now.

There's an "itk"-rumour doing the rounds on social media around here that the government is planning to implement a 7pm-7am curfew from next week. Obviously those kinds of things need to be taken with a grain of salt, but still, sounds quite bizarre.

Our department head still thinks that people are overreacting and that it's basically a new form of flu and not that much to worry about. Meanwhile the two CEOs have decided to clear out several departments and send them home. Since I'm in customer care we're probably the last ones to go.

The supermarkets round here are still quite well-stocked, though.

Mikel Arteta has it now. Surely they aren’t actually going to play a full round of fixtures this weekend?

Got to say this is all very exciting in a perverse way. A huge story that is developing all the time that everyone is involved in. Beats even a good old terror attack.

I prefer the relative safety of a terrorist attack though.

Seems mad to me they're still having football on at the weekend.

We’re going to test all these fuckwits coming back from Cheltenham at least.

By the soccer player sample size we must have at least 100,000 infected at this stage in reality though. UK must have at least 7 figures.

I did think the 5-10k estimate earlier was low - the fact that I've now lost count of the number of famous people who have it shows how utterly rife it is.

They've got the best access to medical care so it stands to reason they'll find out before anyone else, but I don't know of a single person who knows someone's who's been tested, let alone has it. The closest is the chap at work who is now back from Italy and is self isolating.

The thing with famous people is they tend to travel a lot more than the average person. Same goes for politicians. And medical chiefs are usually taken to the heart of the problem.
