If there's one thing that Brexit and this have taught us is that there's a significant minority of young people who have an appalling attitude towards the elderly.

I don't disagree (look at the state of Magic and Waff in here) but Brexit (and how they vote otherwise) also kind of show us that the older generation have a pretty appalling attitude towards young people.

See also: all the constant articles about millennials are killing this or that industry and how they could afford a house if they weren't spending all their money on lattes and avocados and are just generally workshy.

Giggles has done more harm to my general outlook on the elderly than any other single person or thing

60 year olds hate millenials. The over 75 are fine.

    Except for the racism.

Yeah, that's valid. The proper old people have gotten past the "i'm slowly going decrepit and i can't mentally deal with it" phase and into the "i hope my grandkids are doing well" phase, which is always a lot more pleasant

We've got the rest of this, a recession, and then Brexit to get through before the next election. If after all that there is nothing newer and bigger to attack Boris Johnson with then he will be laughing.

Waff is just trying to shock because he’s a bit of a twat and still about 15 in his head. Magic has no redeeming features as a human though.

I don’t have a problem with old people. I just don’t think a full blown lockdown, stopping people from contacting each other who aren’t at risk, should be going on much longer. 14 deaths were recorded in Scotland and will only get lower. Keep the vulnerable in isolation if need be and start opening things up over the next month.

And if my experience so far is anything to go by, it’s the older generation that haven’t adhered to the rules more than the younger generation.

Sarah Wollaston screeching about an 'expected second wave' earlier confirms her as a fraud windbag tosser.

Where is the second wave in China? Korea had one that amounted to about 30 people. There's not going to be a second wave, at least not for many months.

In fairness to her, and I don't necessarily disagree with you, but comparing our situation to that of China and Korea's probably isn't a good idea.

There's not going to be a second wave in the US - because we're still in the first one. And yet we're reopening the country faster than Europe.

100,000 people dead. Because we're morons.

Aren't half/most of the states doing alright and in a position to open back up? Obviously the full country doing it all together would be daft.

Tbh opening up is fine if you do it sensibly. It's pretty clear the virus isn't quite as contagious as first thought. Clusters are mainly formed from super spreader events. The problem is America wont do it sensibly.

America seems to be getting more criticism than the figures indicate.

Ignoring the social media videos, the number are relatively similar to Spain, Italy, UK and France.

In terms deaths per population, they are behind most of Western Europe. They have a high number cases (still less per pop than Spain) but that's expected given they have tested 4.5x as many people.

Even if you just go for raw death rate, 5% is better than Italy, Spain, the UK, etc. Outside of New York and New Jersey, the numbers aren't awful.

He's actually managed a rare double loss on this. It's too slow because, well, we're leaving lockdown without a functioning app AND it's rushed because, well, we're leaving lockdown without a fucking app.

I honestly couldn't give a stuff either about Dominic Cummings driving to Barnard Castle, Jeremy Corbyn standing next to a man with an Alice band, Boris Johnson pissing in a urinal next to John Lennon, Keir Starmer doing a handstand on top of a human pyramid of sick children, Bill Cash rolling down a hill tied to Mo Mowlam's mouldering corpse... I just don't give a fuck.

All I want is any kind of fucking competence when it comes to rolling out timescales for the rest of us to be able to resume our far more important lives.
