They do have the perfect comeback, literally nobody outside of FIFA cares one bit about the club world cup.

Yeah this is the one with 75 billion teams that some Japanese bloke said he'd give them a bajillion quid for so it'll be LAWYER TIME BAY BAY.

This is actually going to stop Liverpool winning the league properly, isn't it?

Think we should just call it quits and give the title to whatever team has the longest unbeaten run as of right now/if we agree that Wednesday's game doesn't count towards it. It's the only sensible way.

Void the season and start over in August, assuming there's any of us left.

Taxpayer-owned bank RBS will allow people affected by the coronavirus outbreak to defer mortgage and loan repayments for up to three months.

TSB and Lloyds said they would also allow a mortgage window, and the banks said savers could close fixed-term savings accounts without charge.

This is designed to allow people to access cash if they need it as the impact of the virus is felt.

I don't see why they would have to cancel any major football. Ninety-nine per cent of the money in it is for the broadcasting, so just have the games behind closed doors and countries can put whatever travel restrictions they want in place.

Indeed, but, and I don't know whether you're old enough to remember, wouldn't Man Utd winning it behind closed doors after 25 years have felt a little hollow?

It would be absolutely shit and barely worth watching, but with the money involved even that is better than nothing. It's the same with Formula 1. Unless somebody intends to give the manufacturers their hundreds of millions of quids back you will just end up with a dozen races in empty circuits until it has blown over/killed us all.

I can't see it. The odd fanny might, but you could easily quarantine a football team between matches, so once Adidas and Nike start leaning on them it's a goer.

Depends if the plague (much better word than virus) has died down by then. Maybe this is God's way of punishing UEFA for that crappy multi-city hosting format.

    Latest league table

    Italy 167.9
    Switzerland 57.4
    Norway 56.1
    Denmark 45.2
    Spain 35.8
    Sweden 34.8
    France 27.3
    Austria 20.4
    Germany 17.2
    Ireland 6.9
    UK 5.5
    Portugal 4

Probably 10-12 days until we're in full lockdown, I would guess.

Why are you (and us) waiting until it reaches Italian levels before acting? Has to be the hope of a pension cull.

Probably because they figure (hope) it won't get to those levels. We don't seem to be seeing the steep trajectory to get near them yet. Fuck knows how the Italians have made such a mess of things.

Because it will fuck hugely with businesses and people's livelihoods.

The airlines are fucked come what may so I see no harm in restricting flights, but if you close schools etc. then it's going to cause serious financial problems for people.

It’s not a normal situation though. We’re being told that 85000 alone are going to die here.

Well the powers that be are telling us it’s ‘likely’. Maybe they’ll close the schools at 40k.

If we’d a stronger government and a proper border we could have contained it once it had been able to spread from China to Italy.

I suppose if everyone gets it it'd generate those numbers, but even in Italy it's got nowhere near to infecting everyone.

That said, I haven't seen projections of how many will contract it.

They must be looking at cases coming back from Italy and thinking, now that place is in lockdown, the spread will stifle. The ones that come back now will be self-isolated or quarantined. The worry is the people who've just had their holiday cancelled will be straight round trying to get tickets to Spain.

My boss came back from Northern Italy this week and says the reality is a lot worse than being reported. Also walked straight through at Heathrow.

My brother in law's mother sent a video of Salerno - complete lock down.

We're moving to split working arrangements at work with 50.50 split on in office/remote working.

Our boss uttered the phrase, "Worst case scenario." I have no idea what our continuity plan is. As it happens, work has slowed right down. We've got lines to take now when we book claimants in. Namely: Have you been to China or Italy recently and do you feel ill?

Russia's had ten cases. I find that surprising. Maybe they just don't travel much abroad.

Their blood is above the alcoholic proof level required to be effectively antiseptic and/or there are no old Russians, for the same reason.

I also checked China's cases before Hubei went into shutdown on 23/1/20. Officially, they had 639 and then the cases ballooned.

Confirmed case at a rival company in the same industry here today.

If they went to the office then we are all getting infected eventually. There’s too much intra company intermingling for it not to jump around.

Hopefully after having a bout of normal flu last week my body will laugh it off.

Working from home when you actually have to work and dial into calls is crap. If it happens I’m getting amazon prime and just pretending. Or better still heading to the highlands.
