There's the breakdowns. Granted, there's not much between them. Dementia does 12%, Ischaemic heart disease does 10%, Covid does 7% ish.

With it presenting more as a cold these days, maybe? I dunno. I'd probably just leave it.

    I think.
Are they the same thing if you have no symptoms?

It's a matter of degrees isn't it. If there's literally 0 available staff and you're deciding between a person who's 5 days post and one who's 3 days post, then obviously 5 days. If you're talking (as the scenario realistically usually is) choosing between being short-staffed or having someone 5 days post, then I'd choose to be short-staffed.

I guess we're very much two years in now and the initial, utilitarian, 'herd immunity' was still probably the right call, until the stats wankers were allowed to run amok with their modelling. Even had we hit the alleged levels of death, other than the massive tragedy that might have been at a personal level for people, it probably would have had a rejuvenating effect on society. Imagine culling off all of the over 75s in one fell swoop? Pension crisis over. Property crisis over. Like a forest fire.

As it is, we've got hundreds of thousands of dead anyway and an entirely broken society/economy. Good times.
The herd immunity plan was always complete nonsense (and would have genuinely led to bodies piling up), but we've gone so far the other way now that I almost sympathise with the argument.

Fair enough. I guess it depends on how seriously they are short-staffed and overstretched. This is always difficult for us general public to comprehend as the media will portray this every winter (with or without rona).

There is nothing in the current Covid data to suggest new curbs are needed in England at this stage, ministers say.
Brings a tear to the eye.

It's one of the problems I've had to deal with on the phones at work. We cancelled on some bloke because the HP was unavailable to the assessment and during the phone call he says, "Well, this has been going on for two years. Surely you have a contingency plan?" I wasn't going to tell him that a four month wait for an assessment was two months ahead of most or that we always have problems retaining HPs. Turns out assessing claimants will always burn people out. And it's not like you can pick someone off the street to do that.

I mean, every winter IS bad. It really is. I think if anything the general public would be shocked if they saw what it's really like behind the scenes sometimes.

Whatever you have in your head, I guarantee it's worse.

    2 new pages?

I’ve only skimmed so not paid much attention but did Yev really say he thinks you have to be coughing and spluttering to be contagious?

No, I didn't. Once again you demonstrate your complete inability to read or bother engaging properly. Sigh.

It’s more a case of not wanting to at this stage because you get so uptight about it. Utter yeast infection is definitely getting robbed though

I'm relieved partly as I'd have felt a right dick having to let my SLT know that I was positive again just a month after my last one. From an academic point of view, the start of December was a pretty good time to be off; the start of January would have been a bit of a nightmare.

For those cleverer than me (not many of you I'm sure we'd all agree), why is it that I've not caught covid but my wife and child have?

I ask as I've not yet had the 'all important' booster and I seem to be avoiding it at every turn despite not isolating, etc.

My missus seems to be the only teacher in her schools not to have caught it even though she’s doing supply and hopping from one class to the other. I put it down to her having to proper Covid last year (jabs too etc) and thus having too good of an immune system for this fake one going around atm
