Because they're not working then are they. Happy to replace all teachers with some elite online learning presenters?

How are they not working? We plan the lessons, do live lessons via Zoom/Teams/whatever, mark the work submitted, etc. It’s not the best way to do the job, but it is currently the safest. Being in school to deliver lessons or doing them from home doesn’t impact the quality of the lessons.
As for your ‘elite online learning presenters’, I take it you mean Joe Wicks et al? If that’s the case then you’re a tad deluded - no one is queuing up to deliver online lessons for free or is able to provide the kind of specific, tailored learning that students need.
I thought Magic was going to make a pertinent point about how the learning environment is key to success. Sometimes I expect too much.
The general attitude towards teachers in this country is absolutely disgusting, to be honest.
It's one of the most demanding jobs going.
That Mexican bloke who lost his job because somebody claimed he was doing the okay sign in a racist way in his car, that bloke who lost his business because his teenage daughter posted some shit online, Goodyear employees being threatened with the sack for supporting certain political/social causes... The celebrities aren't the point, which is why every 'cancel culture isn't real' wankpiece only talks about them.
You've also got the recent phenomenon of banks freezing political activists (and sex workers) out, which ought to be a big issue seeing as they assume taxpayer backing so ought to fulfil certain universal service obligations, but corporations are the vanguard for this stuff so nobody cares.
Vaguely related: the teaching aspect of my job was impossibly stressful this year. Online teaching takes so much extra work to just produce something vaguely acceptable, and students disengage immediately even if it's pretty good. It felt like a year of yelling into the void. I can't even begin to imagine how school teachers are doing it.
Part of me thinks we should have just paused education entirely for a year, but I can't think of a way it could be done.
In this country those Patriotic Alternative idiots had their accounts closed, and various Trump-supporting bods have had their accounts and payment methods spiked. The sex work there are loads of examples of banks making it hard for prossies and sex shops and the like with morality clauses (lol) and suspicious transaction flags, and several credit card companies have just blocked Pornhub as well because they have unknowingly hosted various unlawful things, the logic of which will presumably stop you paying for any internet services or using your Visa in China any time now.
Well that's to do with anti money laundering regulation and the reputational risk of providing banking services for illegal activities.
Financial institutions decide what level of risk they want to take on.
Poring over the stats today (knowing the actual up to date numbers as opposed to the media narrative is one of the only things that keeps me sane), think we're now looking at a steady easing in London/south east from about a week's time and maybe an increase in other parts of the south (M3 corridor) and the north west.

Open the churches. Forcibly.
Yeah from my experience of working in a branch-based role, they were actually getting more and more trigger happy about shutting accounts. By the end of my 5 years, I started seeing far more angry blokes demanding to know why their accounts weren't working, and it was always "soz mate, we have no way of seeing WHY they've mad the decision, but terms and conditions etc etc".
I promise I never took pleasure from it, unless they were total cunts, but the conversation would always go something like
"you haven't got the right to do that!"
"well...actually, we do. even if you've done literally nothing dodgy at all, they legally can close your account based on even the slightest suspicion of dodginess".
I remember once some bloke recognising me in a pub, demanding I come to the toilets with him so we could "have a chat", and I stupidly agreed cus I was drunk and stupid. He sorta positioned me so I was backed into a corner, while his little roadman brother stood trying to look threatening with a bottle in his hand, and was like "WHY HAVE YOU CLOSED MY ACCOUNT, I'M NOT A DRUG DEALER, WHY HAVE YOU CLOSED MY ACCOUNT? I'M NOT A DRUG DEALER....I HAVE A LEGITIMATE BUSINESS...RENTING BOUNCY CASTLES. I'M NOT A DRUG DEALER", all in between taking massive keys of a bag of coke he had in his hand, and offering me some when he wasn't shouting at me.
I think I avoided a kicking by going "wait...mate, is it a personal account?" "YES" "ah! well they're being a lot more tight on closing business accounts that are being run through personal accounts (true), and they have probably shut it because of that, not because they think you're a drug dealer (maybe true)!", and he just suddenly smiled and went "oh cool! nice one mate!" and him and his brother sorta wandered off into the night.
Don't fucking share tales of coke-fuelled boozer toilet exchanges in these times, you sick fuck
Jimmy better be right, if I'm not in my sauna come 14th...I'll be upset?
Have any dates been announced for reassessing tiers? Being back in tier 2 by 17th Jan would be good. Liverpool vs United in a pub is something I’ve not done since negrito-gate, I don’t think.
I'm a twit
They said every 2 weeks but no clear date given.
The political cases there aren't involved in any illegal activities. Gordon Brown wanted to force banks to guarantee basic banking services, but apparently the government didn't have much leverage over high street banks during his premiership so it never happened. It's a bit like the social media dickheads curating content whilst shirking publishing obligations. You can have it one way or the other.
In the case of a far right political party, it would due to the risk appetite of the organisation to be associated with them. I don't particularly agree that they shouldn't have basic banking services offered as long as all know your client checks come back clean but they'd be a high risk client and the risk-reward may have edged towards not bothering. Maybe if they were rich...
So cancel culture is in fact real.
That’s not what cancel culture is and you know it.
What is that then, and how does it differ from cancel culture?
It's private business choosing who they do custom with.
Because it’s in the name. It’s cancel culture because it’s literally about culture not that laws are shitty. It’s ‘Political Correctness Gone Mad’ not ‘sex workers aren’t allowed a bank account’.
It’s about ‘the climate of fear’ in institutions. Just look at the Harper’s letter signed by JK Rowling and co.
Again it's down to risk appetite and negative press. It's why correspondent banking is suffering because the impact of fines on not knowing your customer's customer was actually a front for a drug kingpin means it's best to just leave that market. That then leads to money falling out of the system and becoming even more difficult to track - see hawala payment networks as an example.
Fear of negative press due to who your customers are sounds like... Yeah.
I like the idea of banks being bothered about money laundering.
It is, however, a useful ruse to stiff the rest of us if we ever want anything from the cunts. Trying to open a business account is beyond belief hard nowadays.

That's not cancel culture. That's bad legislation.
One of them you said nothing happened to and I googled ‘dad losing his business because his daughter chatted shit online’ and didn’t find anything so it was an absolutely compelling case.
You are a retard.
Watch out, with this current atmosphere Of cancel culture you’ll be shunned from society For saying that.
Not this society.

Ain't no fuckin saunas in Jan, is there? Cunts.
Cancelled for being a lazy cunt.
Teachers get screwed over all the time, the general public's opinion of them is shameful. Teachers need decent qualifications to work long hours (when factoring in marking, planning etc) for a relative pittance compared to jobs in other fields requiring similar qualifications (or indeed less). Good teachers do it purely because they really want to help kids and the response whenever the government takes a shit on them is 'lol fuck em' whilst simultaneously crying about how the kids need education without realising that making teaching more attractive might help a bit.
The same people who cry about strikes being inconvenient for them as if that isn't the point.
The kind of people who moan about teachers are just insecure little freaks who slowly grafted their way to some shitty middle-management or supervisor job with their limited intelligence, and resent the fact that people quite correctly think teachers and nurses and firefighters and shit do a harder job and do deserve more respect.
I lost count of the amount of people I worked with during the #crisis who'd been with the bank for years and said shit like "WHY DO THE MEDIA KEEP JUST TALKING ABOUT TEACHERS AND NURSES AND BLAH BLAH when WEEEEE deserve just as much credit!" Er, no we don't.
The people who say cancel culture doesn’t exist because private companies can freely choose to disassociate themselves from risky partners are the same people who say that taking race into account when giving out housing loans is evil racism
Lockdown 3.0, what say you?
25k in hospital in England. 41% increase since Christmas. Sheeesh
Everyone's calling for a lockdown without actually saying what a lockdown would entail, compared to what we're currently in.
Which things need to be clamped down on more?
Schools closed.
The iron fist is needed now everywhere.
