Even if they just sent him out with an apology, that would've been better instead of the "Well, actually ..." bollocks he spouted in the garden.

We're back to peanut allergies again. I wonder if we'd all have to stay at home if peanuts sprouted wings.

This is way more contagious than flu, which is why it will overwhelm health services in a way flu doesn't if left unchecked.

Hypothetically then, if it didn't stand to overwhelm the health service (because they all just suffered and died at home like plague victims), would you accept the argument that an extra hundred thousand deaths (say) are worth it to prevent massive economic damage?

Problem being a large proportion of the vulnerable won’t be arsed about shielding and will want to just take their chances.

My gran was fobbing off the first lockdown and still milling about despite all of us asking her to be more sensible.

The younger generation don’t care, I suspect there’s a large section of the vulnerable that don’t care and there’s a mix of wet wipes/not bothered in the middle.

The PC thing to do is to try and save everyone. But that’s not happening. Should just let natural selection take its course. Ask everyone to be sensible, ask everyone to do distancing and masks and move on. Unfortunately, opening the clubs is an obvious problem that would be avoided.

I get the feeling Nicola sturgeon takes every death from this as a personal failure. As would any scientist advisor. And that is far more of a problem for me.

You’re talking to an example of the general public who want to do what they want to do at all costs and will tie themselves in ridiculous knots making arguments. Waste of time.

I mean, this is a problem we all failed to contain. Politically and personally, this is a catastrophe.

This is the kind of shit police are going to have to deal with regularly. Arsed being an officer trying to break that up.

That’s where the army are needed. About 40% of them brain damaged (more than already) would be a good starting message.

This is such a bollocks turn of phrase. Most people have been compliant which is why we managed to slow down the virus earlier in the year.

Natural selection means hospitals are unable to deal with things they should deal with in normal times. That PC paragraph is so fucking wrongheaded that it makes my head hurt.

That would at least mean not having to choose between mass death and economic catastrophe.

    What scenes

Why tf are the police not issuing fines there, I don't know. Given the train stations look like army bases, it seems COVID has killed off all crime too.

Yeah, it is going to be a major problem. At the same time, a homeless person always has the potential to become housed and get a job again; there's no bringing someone back from the dead.

There's likely to be a rebound, too. Although I reckon Rishi and co are probably a bit reluctant to try and force that again. There will be a natural rush, though. People clambering to buy shit, bugger off on holidays, open the clubs, etc.

I wish my neighbour would. Every fucking autumn he's at it, and he's not even good at it. There's always about 5 minutes between each firework and he lives on his own. What's the point?

They should be banned (and I mean completely banned, no firework ever to go off again) purely on the grounds that they scare animals half to death, but they are also the least entertaining thing ever devised by mankind, except perhaps my posts on here.

I've nothing particularly against fireworks (although they are not something I've ever bought and set off myself) but that is proper oddball behaviour.

Hear, hear, I've always wondered how people derive joy from it, much like ten-pin bowling.

The 'Boris could have saved thousands with an earlier lockdown' headlines are back. In other news, Boris could have housed every homeless person in a 5-star hotel for the rest of their lives.

He probably thinks he's providing a public service. He's the same cunt that was banging out Vera Lynn at 18000 decibels every Thursday of the first lockdown.

Fireworks are indeed rubbish and adults doing them as a solo activity can be lumped in with those 40 year old weirdos who also go to theme parks on their own.

Fireworks are great if shit goes wrong.

My Dad used to host a big bonfire night and something would always fail.

Katherine wheels flying off the post they were nailed too was a common thing as were rockets changing trajectory as the milk bottle they were placed on would fall over. The biggest fail was one whipping round to the crowd and going inside a woman's cardigan.

Boris is on top of the situation, this is NOT a lockdown. That is fear mongering.

    We're rebranding it to...

My Monday evening weekly shop at Lidl has informed me panic buying has restarted. I mean first time round you can put it down to idiocy but second time round is just downright hilarious.

It really is mental. The first time round it was borderline understandable. We've all seen the disaster movies with looting, Zombies and Will Smith crying. But fucking hell lads... we've been here before. You're not going to have to use your baby photos as toilet roll. get a grip.

The supermarkets could do a better job at restricting people from buying loads of shit but that's not really in their interests, I suppose #NationaliseTesco

The Lidl here was queuing 30-deep or so the other day, but Albert Heijn (kinda Waitrose-ish) was fine

I've just seen a Tesco advert saying they're installing a traffic light system to manage the flow of people and I really hope that's as literal as it sounds.

Edit: it looks like it's just to let you know when you can enter the shop, so my dream of delays due to a collision on the corner of Pasta and Gluten Free will have to remain a dream for now.
