    Because she's a retard.

    OR

Because the Scottish embrace death with gratitude.

    Probably both.

Today's numbers are good again for the 11th day in a row. There is a slight issue in Teesside, Tyneside and certain parts of the west midlands, but everywhere else cases are plummeting, hospital admissions are now definitely falling, and there's even the first hint that deaths are tapering off and should start to fall from maybe middle to end of this coming week.

One thing I've noticed is that it just will not / does not shift in Leicester. Is it restrictions fatigue from being in Tier 3 longer than anyone else, or are they uniquely bad at not following restrictions / continuing to spread the virus?

A good day is a day that is better than yesterday. That doesn't just apply in a pandemic.

I'm against the death penalty but if an 83 year old is refusing the vaccine she should just be euthanised.

Would you euthanise the 73% of black people who are reportedly refusing it?

I'm measuring good in terms of progress towards the UK getting out of the pandemic / the current heavy restrictions on our lives being lifted in some way. Currently I find this metric to be a realistic assessment of what 'good' might entail.

Not much I can do about 1,500 dying per day.

Good scenes in Eindhoven as part of lockdown protests with some bricks being thrown into windows and a police car being torched up. I want similar in London by end of Feb.

That would be this piece: https://assets.publishing.service.go...nic-groups.pdf

Which is actually a completely different set of research based on their takeup of other vaccines such as influenza, meningitis C and rotavirus, and measles, mumps and rubella as a childand then applies the question “Imagine that a vaccine against COVID-19 was available for anyone who wanted it. How likely or unlikely would you be to take the vaccine?”. Possible responses: Very likely, Likely, Unlikely, Very unlikely, with the outcome being responding Very likely/Likel" to how they think the people involved in that study would respond.

2.1.MethodsTwo cohort studies were undertaken using the QResearch database to assess disparities in vaccination uptake across ethnic groups amongchildren agedbelow 18 yearsand adults aged65 yearsand over. This database comprisesover 12 million individuals registered at over 1,300 general practicesacross the UK. The uptake ofinfluenza, meningitis C and rotavirus, and measles, mumpsandrubella (MMR)vaccines wereassessed in childrenaged under18 years. The uptake of influenzaandpneumococcal vaccines were assessed in those aged 65 years and older, andshingles vaccinein thoseaged 70and over. Heterogeneity in vaccine uptake within individual general practices wasaccounted for. Logistic regression models were used to estimate the odds ratios for 8 ethnic groups compared to those of White ethnicity. Odds ratios (ORs; see Annex A) wereestimatedas unadjusted, adjusted for demographic factors, and then a ‘maximally adjusted’ model incorporating demographics and relevantcomorbidities

    quite literally guessing.

You've conflated two different sections of that link. The sample figures for existing/previous vaccine uptakes is section two, and section three is a survey done a couple of months ago. That is where the seventy-two per cent figure comes from.

I wonder if we will extend our quarantine to 21 days following the news out of NZ?

Apparently China are running with 21 days.

The new skill in holidays will be to find somewhere in the UK that is not full of twats of one sort of another.

I reckon random places that you wouldn't see as a holiday destination, but also aren't your house, could be the way forward.

I just put BBC News on in time to hear the words "easing restrictions is a long, long, long way off. Infact, they are looking at tightening..." at which point I hit the Netflix button and I'm watching a documentary about the Challenger Disaster to cheer me up.

Seriously though, cases are coming down, approaching 10% of people being vaccinated, all positive news but they're tightening restrictions and warning that we may be stuck with this shit until July?

    Something smells funny here.

They have learned from last year when they continued with an optimistic outlook and looked to open up when they could, and got bitten by the second wave / new variant.

The new comms strategy is to crush all hope, instil fear and try to buy a bit of time for the vaccination that way. Hopefully this just means better expectation management.

It's interesting that in Israel, who are the only country a bit ahead of us with vaccination, hospitalisations have dived off the moon in the last few days having risen until that point. It'll be interesting to see if a similar thing happens here. Our hospitalisations are falling but not yet crashing like that.

Blackpool is like a giant pound shop that's in final throes of a closing down sale.
