In fairness, you can never test enough when there's so many asymptomatic people about. The government's always asking people to come forward so they can catch a wide net. Track and trace is supposed to be helping with that as well but, if you've got a person who doesn't feel unwell, they're going to do fuck all.

They were handling it properly, but should have been unwinding it as soon as the peak was over in April (or whenever it was) and Our NHS didn't fall to pieces. They lost me with the schools re-opening cowardice.

We could do with some airport testing with quick turnarounds. I suspect we don't have the gear for that.

I wouldn't have gone much beyond what was originally suggested, but you can see how they came to the decision to lockdown for a few weeks while the worst of it came around. Once we got a look at it though it should have been wound down months ago. Flatten the curve made sense, and then it somehow moved to eradicating it, which isn't happening.

Spot on. And all because of scientists and their hard work. To think there are people insistent on criticising them.

I just checked the UN Vaccine Landscape and the only ones in phase 3 are Chinese Pharma companies so you can forget those.

The only other is this one using Antigens with a similar technique to Zika which isn't a vaccine but a 'cure' with reprecussions.

We're not going to get a vaccine by the end of this year, it's cloud cuckoo land to think we will. And I've no beef with actual scientists, they're doing the best work going during all of this.

It's definitely not cloud cuckoo land. I'm convinced the Oxford vaccine will be approved before the end of the year. I've said it from the start: there will be no traditional 'phase 3' here. It will be approved as soon as they see it is safe and produces antibodies.

America will rush one through as well. They already skipped the animal testing in favour of human trials. India wanted a vaccine by August which .... y'know, isn't on.

If you're going to lock cities down every time one bloke gets ill, it'll be a long old road back.

I like the approach, to be honest. Keep everyone in the same place, test like mad and find out just where that disease is spreading, if at all.

Good point. It moved to DEFEATING the virus and the once tolerance it would always be here has totally disappeared.

It is a strong reaction, but then we've had 450 cases and 0 deaths so far, so I'm happy to follow the government on this one. Note: it seems flights and still moving in and out, just mask wearing, social distancing and no crowds gathering enacted again.

That’s how you do it. Wish other countries would follow suit. Your numbers have shown it works so there should be no argument.

Never seen anything like the amount of nordies infesting here this weekend. You think they would have some responsibility and go to their own north coast for the time being. A nuisance at the best of times the tacky cunts.

The best part about the airport in these summer times is obviously the poonani. Saw what were no doubt some elite tings but the masks just completely got in the way. My parents didn't lie about being political prisoners just so I can be restricted to the same perving laws as the motherland ffs.

People here are complaining about wearing a mask in a shop. Whilst it is an inconvenience, it's really nothing more. And surely, if it helps restrict the spread of the virus, it's an inconvenience worth having.

In the spirit of transparency, I did enter a shop on Friday without a mask because I forgot it. The shop owner did not throw me out.

I see the England curve is slowly increasing. Although, I think the economy will be the main driver now.

14 day quarantine period for them when they get to where they're going.

'Evacuating' seems to be over-egging the pudding there slightly anyway.

Listening to those people coming back from Spain, some of them are really fucking thick. "It felt safer there than in the UK. No mandatory face masks or anything."

Aye. Makes you wonder how it came back so quick, doesn't it? And then another cunt comes on saying he's going to fuck the quarantine off because, "DOMINIC CUMMINZ! And they gave us no notice which is bloody typical government!" He says as the government's typical response has been to wait at least two weeks to introduce everything.

The cumming's excuse is moronic. And people complaining about the quick response of the UK government implementing the Spain quarantine are even more moronic. If you chose to go on holiday when there is an active pandemic, then you must accept the risks that come with it.

I know people have compared the CV-19 lockdown with what people had to overcome during WW1 and WW2, but i wonder if people bitched and moaned about it as much back then as they are now.

I went to the shop there today and not a single other person was wearing a mask.

They're not mandatory here yet but the health minister said last week they would recommend them and then if people don't actually take it upon themselves to wear them they'll have to make it mandatory.

Should just fucking do it already. People are stupid.

Given there were only 14 new cases confirmed in my county in the last week, and the ease at which one can get a test (kudos to the gov't for that by the way), I'd probably question the point of them being mandatory nationwide anyway.

4 months ago was the time to have been doing that.

I ordered Chinese yesterday and was told that I need a mask to collect. The woman was not wearing a mask herself though which was odd.

Especially as she was wearing one when I ordered a few weeks ago.

Went to Boots and Sainsbury's today and everyone I saw (customers that is, staff were about 50/50) was wearing a mask.

It was the first time I was wearing one for more than 2 minutes today and I fucking hate it. My glasses were constantly fogging up unless they were in an exact position (balancing on the nose bar) and it was so fucking hot.
