I think there is a massive divide at the moment between people (like me) who for whatever reason have been out and about all the way through, and people who have either been forced to, or chosen to, shield completely, been furloughed or have worked from home all the way through. I just don't see the great risk in everything. Infection numbers are now tiny and if you social distance and avoid unnecessary indoor crowding, you're almost certain not to contract Covid.

However when I see my colleagues coming back from furlough and being scared to touch door handles or go to the toilet in the office, I just think what sort of damage has this done to people's psyche?

I'll wear a mask in shops because I am a law abiding citizen, I just think it will deter economic activity and therefore backfire.

Timely article. Interesting they say 120,000 coronavirus deaths, distinguishing it from the flu deaths we usually get.

It is in a roasting, packed shop especially if you have glasses on. It's a case of avoid as much as possible, or get in and get out ASAP. And absolutely fuck off to non-essential shops.

Or because it's pointless, far too late, is being misunderstood for invincibility and many more reasons our health advisor overlords have let us down.

It's yet another restriction on your freedoms for a very negligible payoff. It's easy to say people are being Karens but I'm of the mind those who oppose it are actually employing their brains a little more.

Never seen such a fuss about wearing a mask for a bit, get a fucking grip fannies. We either open up and employ measures like this to keep it under control or we're back inside again in a few months.

It'll be the latter. I would estimate I've seen less than one percent of people wearing masks and social distancing may as well not exist. People don't give the slightest fuck. Well be back in full lockdown before September

    100 times this.

Wearing a mask occasionally in a shop is barely going to impact you compared to being confined to your house for 3+ months (bar Jimmy).

It’s not “too late” to wear a mask, the fuck are you talking about?

Also clearly not pointless, but good luck convincing you of anything

2nd wave reaction will be shielding just as first wave should have been. Countries are on their knees as it is, ain't no one affording more lockdowns.

I wear one 13 hours a day at work, people whinging about an hour at the shops can suck a fat one tbh.

The thing I don't get with this face mask thing (fuck 'face covering') is, much like that stupid quarantine idea they dallied with months too late, why is it from 2 weeks? Why not tomorrow? I understand there might be some issues with enforcing if people don't have them and haven't had time to get one (really?) but surely, if this is a good idea as of 10 days time, then it is a good idea as of tomorrow and you should be getting as many people as possible to do it, no?

If you could all sort yourselves out by mid-August it would be much appreciated

Yeah and builders wear hard hats, but you don't see the general public being forced to wear them in case a shop awning falls on them on the way down a high street.

I don't mind wearing one for a handful of shopping trips a week but I just think it will have economic mal-effects. People won't be arsed to go and buy things that they otherwise would have done.

Less breaks, less arsing around, less moaning about the Tories, so about 4 hours then.

I mean - you know the answer to this - falling shop awnings are famously not contagious :/ - Am I missing something?

I think you'll be surprised - wearing a mask is not a big ordeal. It becomes relatively normal, very quickly. Just as stopping wearing them does.

Majority means nothing when the minority is still a big fucking number. Especially if the immunity is as short as suggested. All those near misses come back around.

It's absolutely unnatural and utterly bizarre not to see people's faces. Only in a nation full of subservient robots would that be normal.

What near misses are those and how are those near misses not susceptible to the same near misses (i.e flu) that they always were that we simply didn't give a fuck about before?

Bruv, I thought we raped and pillaged Team Panic about 3 months ago and recruited a couple of them too. I don't want to hear any fucking melty fearmongering until Nightingale has a higher occupancy rate than Chernobyl.

No problem with it, I'm wearing it as per the new law. It's just totally moronic being introduced this late on when all the figures are plummeting yet when it was on the rise we sat and did fuck all.

Even at the peak of the crisis there were only ever 19,000 people in ICU across a nation with a combined population of 80m+, dickhead.

You'll find most of the shit went down in care homes, so as much as your fragile autistic ass is looking for an excuse to stay indoors 247365 it ain't happening.

It appears we need less hospitals and more giant creches for the outbreak of adults turning into bawling children.

But that's a different argument. Should we have implemented it sooner? Probably. Should we not do it now because you get frosted pedo glasses? No.

You know what else is bizarre and unnatural... people dying of a new virus.
It's temporary. Over here, hardly anyone is wearing masks anymore... like 2% of people... because 100% of people wore them mandatory from Feb-April/May. Granted, it's 3 months too fucking late for you lot.

We should ban internet connected devices as the likelihood of STUPIDITY being contagious seems HIGH.

Honestly primary school children can understand this stuff
The same primary school children that were pulled from their education and social development for 4 months because of a harmless virus?

And if those education starved children can understand that, why can't our EXPERT EPIDEMIOLOGISTS?

It was particularly harmless to those children who died from it

The ones that would have died if they'd got the flu, or the cold, or pneumonia or anything other mild virus due to their underlying health condish?

Pray tell, the ones that died from starvation, abuse etc, what about them?
