July Football: It's next season already??

We're already in the second half of the calendar year (sob) which means that qualifying and things for next season is already under way as well as the various international things across gender and age groups going on because THE FOOTBALL MUST NEVER STOP.

I have quite enjoyed the Women's World Cup now the group stage mismatches are done and dusted and was quite disappointed yesterday to realise a) that there wasn't any on and b) that I'm going to miss the England / USA game.

We sacked Garry Monk a few weeks back. The only guy who has evenly looked remotely competant in the 2.5 years since they sacked the last competant guy in Gary Rowett. We are a shambles, our board are a bunch of clueless arseholes and we are still under a transfer embargo. Another fight against relegation beckons. Fuck.

I'm surprised more wasn't made of Monk. Having an agent sign off all transfers or whatever it was seemed iffy as fuck.

I don't know what the implications are of such an arrangement but I couldn't give any less of a shit. He dramatically improved our performances whilst bringing in one transfer and a few loans and he was loved by the fans. If we can bring in someone like Chris Hughton then fair enough but if it's some bullshit like Alan Pardew I'm officially giving up and turning to Baseball.

It always messes about with our season as clubs come over for friendlies. Shels are playing Hearts tonight I think and Chelsea (reserves) are playing Pats in 2 weeks which messes up a session for me, though that's another story.
European stuff is rolling about too which is good though, as we're still small time enough that you want all the clubs to do well.

Most people don’t have trackers on their pets.

The usual microchips hold information about the owners but don’t have GPS, presumably due to battery requirements.

He's got it back! Seems a bit dodgy how the person that returned it supposedly had nothing to do with the robbery, but at least he's got the dog back. Losing a dog is the second worst thing that could get stolen after a small child.

Just copped that Dundalk and Riga is on the telly. Nice one.

This Dundalk squad is about the strongest that there's been from here in over a decade but the Latvians are apparently heavily backed financially and would be strong favourites.

There's just no point until Ashley goes. It'd be interesting to start a new club and see who got a trophy first. I'd back the new club, although I'd be long dead before it was decided.

I've just looked up Mike Ashley on Wikipedia and he looks like half the people on this forum. For some reason I thought he was some octogenarian crank but you couldn't find a better microcosm of Great Britain in any face

There have been multiple years with tournaments running in the summer yet this year feels especially egregious. There's been larger gaps with no football during the season than this summer it feels like.

Crusaders are up 2-0 in the first leg. Second leg on the 18th. I would prefer a trip to the Faroe Islands so hopefully B36 can turn it around.

    Mad cunt.

    https://www.balls.ie/amp/football/ro...am-talk-413986

"Roy is doing his team-talk and going around to a couple of lads and, rightly or wrongly, he was talking to one lad from London who was nineteen and said 'look, I don't think you are going to make it in the game. I don't see you being consistent enough, you will probably be back in London next year doing drive-by shootings with your friends'.

"We are all sitting there, 'Holy God'."

Roy went on 'one week I look at you and you're controlling the game, the next week I can't find you on the pitch, but it's OK because I don't blame you. I blame your parents for the way they brought you up.'

It depends how the lad takes it but everyone is different. The last lad he went, 'do you want to be a footballer, or do you want to collect piss for a living like that fella?' And all you see is the drug tester in the corner and the poor fella didn't know what was going on.

Some of our kids looked really good in the Perth game. Gomes and Greenwood especially. Gomes is so talented, it'll be a real shame if his size (he's properly tiny) proves too much of a stumbling block.

The PRESS looked much improved on the highlights I saw, but I think the opposition might have just been terrible.

The biggest reaction to Liverpool's first game the other night seemed to be from United fans claiming that Brewster wasn't fit to lace Greenwood's boots.

    Erm, ok.

Could be an interesting season for Old Divock. He's got a proper swagger about him now he's done something useful and achieved cult status.
