This statement was definitely composed by Strachan personally

"Given the response in the last 24 hours to a point made on The Debate programme on Sky Sports from over a week ago, and having reflected on it personally, it is important for me to address the issues that have arisen.

"In no way did I intended to confuse or conflate the very serious issue of racism targeted at footballers with the potential verbal abuse towards a player who has been convicted of a sexual offence.

"Having reviewed the particular segment in light of the reaction, I fully acknowledge that the imprecise use of language in my initial response has left open a perception that should easily have been avoided. For that I sincerely apologise."

Strachan added: "I would like to take the opportunity to atone for that: to reaffirm my condemnation of the behaviour that led to [Johnson's] conviction, to convey my heartfelt sympathy and support to the survivor, and to apologise for any unintended distress caused."

I don't understand the physics involved there. It's like when people say Bee's shouldn't be able to fly, and this bee ain't even got wings.

I'd have taken him off at HT.

After Wolves went 2-0 up, they thought they won the game and that was it. From where I was sitting, It looked like the first Deulofeu goal was equal to the Ronaldinho dance vs Chelsea back then. Looking back at the replays, Dendoncker just showed me inside onto his weaker foot. Awful defending. He just stood off him.

To be fair the kid didn't do too much wrong. That's an outstanding finish and technique from there. He could try that 10 times and only make it once.

Thank Christ Perez isn't playing. We'd be more likely to score by lobbing Andy Carroll's decaying corpse into the box.

I went to Wembley for the first time on Saturday. It was a great atmosphere, particularly before and after the game - when there was the most hope, and then when there was simply gratitude and recognition when clapping the players. It felt good hearing our fans sing so loudly over the Man City team being read out etc.

Quarter-final and a semi-final now in our two Prem seasons. I hope we can get a cup in the next few years. I'd happily take a trophy and relegation to the Championship for a few years over becoming another Stoke and languishing between 17th and 10th for a possible eternity.

I went tonight. West Ham are such a budget outfit. Their proper place is in the second tier.

Our fans are all morons though. Loftus-Cheek and Hudson-Odoi could take a shit on the pitch and get a standing ovation for it. The main advantage of RLC is that he drags people away from Jorginho, who is much better with time on his hands.

Higuain is dogshit. Hazard is worth 12 points and Kanté 20.

Is it just me who thinks Dominik Calvert-Lewin is absolute class. The guy looks to have a bit of everything. The only negative is that he sounds exactly like Michael Owen.

The pair of them playing makes the team much better purely for balance if nothing else. West Ham were all over Hudson Odoi in the second half and it just meant more room for Hazard and Loftus Cheek. Giroud should play every week though.

If Chelsea's transfer ban gets upheld does that mean they won't be allowed to sign Higuain permanently? Silver linings and all that.

I'm a big fan of the BRITISH YOUTH agenda we have in play at the moment. They will all get Raheem Sterling'd by the media, but it'll be worth it when we have a new Golden Generation to let us all down in Kuwait.

Edit: Qatar. Whichever desert it's in.

The Bundesstattos have clearly decided that our 20 year olds are the untervalued dish of the day, much as bang average castoffs from La Masia Mate were once coveted across Europe.

More like they reckon we'll pay silly money for them once they've run riot against FC Lebensraum a few times. They're probably not wrong either.

You talk some shit at times. Just remember, if it wasn't for some dodgy Russian money you'd be below the Championship by now.

Reminds me of what jim always says about zaha, and even further back thinking about le tis - those kind of mercurial flair players would seem to be far better suited as the player average sides build their team around than being a tidy cog in a top top side.
