I think my disdain for Dylan was I once went on holiday and there was a lad there who looked like him, who was a right loser.

Yeah. Then she snapped out of her disability to catch a cricket ball and gave Liam Hemsworth and his pretend wheelchair the heave-ho.

That is another Neighbours staple. People get injuries and ailments, and then they just forget them once the writers get sick of having to work around it. Ringo had an eating disorder just to pass out in the pool; Frazer couldn't walk until they said it was all in his head; Toadie couldn't walk or get a lob on after a shooting until it went away for the drama; Susan's MS comes and goes depending on the storyline (usually flares up when some shithead she feels sorry for antagonises it); and so on.

Pauls bad leg hasn't gone away, has it? Maybe the effort of changing which side it is twice an episode keeps it bad.

David Bishop was the best character.

One time he answered the door to Paul in his pyjamas and Paul shouted at him and Harold for a bit then stormed off, leaving them with a snide quip of nice pyjamas, David and David just shrugged and went “it’s night time?”

The best neighbours adjacent thing was "toadfish" being the main antagonist in that fucking deranged Simpsons parody thing, Bart the general (confusingly the same name as an actual early Simpsons episode). It's probably only people like me who were far too online in the mid-late 00s, but does any other cunt remember that shit?

I have reviewed the evidence in light of criticism and stand by my opinion, Steph Scully is fitter than Flick and definitely a right sort. Flick looks like Carol Vorderman's deranged regen.

Even removing flick from the equation entirely, Steph looked like she’d either had an accident or been deprived of oxygen at some stage.

Give over. If you prefer Flick, fine. But let's not get silly. I don't think what Lofty is saying is a particularly controversial opinion at all. I definitely had a thing for Steph Scully too back then.

Also finished Ted Lasso season one.

Contemplating not even bothering with season 2 considering how universally panned it’s been, but will likely give it a go just to see how it went so wrong.

    Rebecca would get it.

I liked season 2 and I don't think it's as bad as some have made it out to be.

It's definitely a step down though.

I'm shocked at how many people in this thread watch the soaps. I genuinely don't know a single person who does, so I guess that makes sense - their viewership has to come from somewhere. Do you all watch it on the telly?

I've barely watched one in my life. I think it depends if you're the sort of person who has the TV on by default (and they just come on), or if you aren't. I'm the latter.

I only watched them by osmosis. Once I moved out of my parents' I completely lost track. They're only good when they decide to kill a load off. Or if they want to ruin Gail Platt / Ian Beale's life.

We're harking back to the glory days of Uni dossing. I don't think any of us (aside from Lewis a little bit) still watch it, and Channel 5 binning it probably means that's a trend across the country too.

I got right back into it once we started working from home so that's proof viewing figures have risen. I don't understand what Channel 5 are putting their money towards otherwise.

I occasionally watched Neighbours when at Uni, mostly because other people I lived with watched it. I reckon the student population probably accounts for a decent proportion of their viewers, with stay at home mums and pensioners being the rest.

I knew she was struggling and taking the fall from BBC dramas to ITV dramas hard, but I didn't know she had taken it Channel 5 hard. Poor cow.

Watched the first three episodes of Pam and Tommy last night, which was surprisingly good. Annoyingly it is only the first three episodes available (I didn't check so assumed that was the whole thing) with the next 5 following over the coming weeks.

It’s definitely dodgy territory in terms of Pamela Anderson’s wellbeing though.

Now that Apple TV has continue and seek functions I started watching that thing with the Indian lad from BBT in it. Wasn’t too bad and I presume the story only really kicks off now 3 episodes in.

I'm only 10 minutes into the first episode, but This Is Going To Hurt is really good. I'm not sure it'll hit quite the same for people without experience of working in healthcare, but I'd strongly recommend giving it a go (after you've all finished Mr Inbetween).

They're probably not allowed to say Premier League without a licence. The rest can be explained by everything on all streaming platforms being for an American audience.

I thought Premiership was completely omerta [in the same way you have to say 'the football club'] but I guess that probably just applies to proper football men talking about proper football matters.

90s football terminology needs to come back into vogue. Footy. Goalie. 'Soccer' in a non-US context. Striker (I swear you don't hear that as much these days). Linesman. Up for the cup. Kick and rush.

While researching this post on wikipedia, I came across this. What the fuck? I have never heard this in my life.

Jew goal: a goal scored when a player "passes the ball when two-on-one with the keeper in order to provide the receiver with an open goal".[193] The term is antisemitic, indicates a goal scored unfairly and plays on the stereotype of Jews as cheap.
