Look ace to me. Like wearing a sock it seems, taking inspiration from a variety of Nike sports shoes (you can see the American football cleats influence and that of football boots).

Like Ronaldo's (I think) boots it's for ankle support, by attaching to the shoe it stops the shoe slipping around at the back.

Boyd - Nike Roshe Run are my current thing. Got a couple of pairs and they're boss. Vans/Superga/Adidas Stan Smiths are always good shouts.
