I Claudio Pizzaro still playing?
I Claudio Pizzaro still playing?
Showing them how it's done after their 3 stooges impression a few minutes earlier up the other end.
Did they give a decent reason for letting Guerrero back in? (Other than 'we don't really care about doping' obvs)
I decided not to read that because I thought it would (be bollocks and) make me angry.
Essentially, according to CAS/Wada, the 500 year old mummified children were also on coke.
Couldn't watch those mummified children, the little feckers. Blasting the coke into them.
This has been good. Peru deserves the draw.
Yeah I've enjoyed this. Poor finishing and some farting about at key moments has cost Peru but they've been good value.
Best shirts in the competition too.
Ach, Peru deserved something there.
Australia have managed an England-esque day, losing at football, rugby and cricket.
That was a bit good.
That was an very nice goal. It's clear that Australia is set out here to try and close down Eriksen, but he got through us. Beats going down to a jammy penalty.
At our absolute best, we could challenge Denmark. And we haven't been awfully bad or anything. We're not out of it, but it'll take a lot.
Not sure about the yellow there, but maybe it's a specific rule?
Jedinak is 'square jawed and swarthy' according to our man on comms. Also has an iron stare.
I think someone might have a little candle burning.
Yet more VAR nonsense. The ball was headed at him from a yard away. Is he supposed to jump with his hands behind his back? Why was that overturned and not about 10 others in the competition?
Pleased for the Sheilaroos but it's a total farce.
The guy on my stream keeps calling the Denmark goalkeeper 'Kaspermeichel'
We've shaded this since Denmark's goal. The penalty call was touch and go, but we deserved something to fall our way at some stage.
Our players need to work on their first touches.
I don't think it's a penalty. And if it is, it's a stupid rule. The problem is that once the ref goes to review it, he is going to give it.
Keown is a joke. He seems to find out what he thinks of an incident at the same time we do.
That is a bizarre one for VAR to overrule. Fair enough, the Tunisian run into the arm rule would keep with the ref if he gives it, but to not give it, and then say it's a deliberate handball on review is bonkers. Probably makes for a better game though. Maybe the lower ranked team should get a penalty chip they can cash at any point in a match.
That looks like a dislocated shoulder.
So I'm obviously not remotely neutral, but this has been a really good match to watch.
This and then Peru doing France would set the group up nicely.
Observations:
- We were the better team, but the VAR did us a huge favour, so it evens out.
- Australia's first touch needs to be a little bit better, to put away the chances we create.
- We clearly went out to close down Eriksen, and after the first ten minutes, we succeeded.
- Sisto is fast, and goes from nothing to full speed in no time. He should find himself at a big team sooner rather than later.
- Leckie sliced through their backline at will, which was nice to see. Our attack really clicked.
- Arzani is the most promising youngster in Australian football since forever. He definitely got fouled right at the end, too. Which we definitely 100% would have scored from, so there's that.
If France beat Denmark and we beat Peru, I think this probably puts us through, unless Denmark score a bunch and still lose. I'd have taken that at the start of the day. The worry is that France could secure qualification tonight, and then might not care too much what happens in the third match.
Always nice at a World Cup to be impressed by players you’ve never heard of/never seen play before, although it’s rarer these days with all the football on tv. However I have been really impressed by Sainsbury and Behich for Australia. Sainsbury especially looks a top drawer defender, nice on the ball as well.
i only saw the incident once while i was driving but i felt like it was a pen for me. Had his arm up even above his head in the box, not sure that's a "natural" position? Maybe i don't understand the rule that's probably the case.
Sainsbury is the one established Australian player who I legitimately think could slot in in most teams in the world. There's reports he got a bunch of enquiries after the France game, so he could be on the move.
Spent time at Inter, so there's clearly something about him. Mind you, he does look a bit like he had a teen goth phase and never fully left it behind.

If France win today I can see them playing out a drab draw with the Danes. A draw today is probably Australia's best result.
I think you can probably give the penalty (although given the range and the fact his arm is behind him rather than in an outstretched 'saving' position it would be harsh) but I don't think you can say it is an obvious error and change it on review. It's going to be interesting when a game that matters is settled on that sort of thing.
Pogba is fucking useless.
Who is this on co comms? He's just confused 'iconic' and 'quite nice' when describing the Peru kit.
Mbappe is a diving twat.
All Giroud, that.
Too much like Balotelli that celebration.
Is it just me or have there been a lot of lucky (massive deflections or just plain awful) goals so far for the big teams? Ronaldo, Costa, Mbappe, ‘Pogba’... All those coupled with the own goals and penalties have made it probably the worst tournament in terms of quality in my lifetime I reckon.
Been some crackers as well. Very small amount of “normal” goals.
France so much better with Giroud as a focal point.
Kante, Mbappe, and Giroud looking good. Everyone else might as well not be there.
I'd be lying if I said that I remember every match of every WC I have ever seen, but I remember the one where the Netherlands made the final being incredibly boring all throughout.
