Molton Brown? Quite possibly the best indicator that somebody has too much money if they buy that stuff.

Found out I could actually use these vouchers online same as if it were a credit card. Though, on a low note, the Mrs has just talked me into using one of them on a vacuum cleaner.

I'm going to purchase a monitor from Amazon. It's likely that the item will be delivered when there is no one in the house. I can't specify a 'pickup location' as the item is too large apparently. What will happen after the initial failed delivery? Will I get a note telling me that they'll try again tomorrow, or that I can pick the package up at the post office, or do they not do that for large / heavy items?

You can normally go to one of the main Royal Mail hubs, I remember having to go the one in Craigavon regularly when I lived nearby. They don't normally leave them in your local post office.

Hmm, is it known as a Parcelforce depot? That wouldn't be so bad as there appears to be one on the way into Derry that I could lift it from.

Although apparently my postcode is served by a dedicated delivery office? Hmm.

I worry Shindig might be right, which would leave me missing it over and over again probably.

Ah sorry, I thought it was coming standard post. The depots I meant would handle RM stuff only.

Can you ring them and redirect it to work after the first failed delivery?

Ah, delivery to the office. There's a decent idea. I might just get it delivered straight there and forget the hassle of missing deliveries.

I get all mine there now. There's always someone there to take it in for me and you're never relying on neighbours or having fragile stuff fucked over the side gate.

I don't think any of our neighbours are in during the day. Anytime I've been off the street has been empty (only 4 houses, tbf).

Those automatic/barcode drop-off points are pretty swish.

Speaking of swish: I went to the Apple Store earlier to pick up a cable and you can scan the barcode on the box and pay on your phone then just walk out. How cool is that. Didn't have to talk to anyone

The future. That seems like a simpler implementation than Amazon's new stores, although having to scan a load of stuff might get annoying.

They still have scanner things at the door. It's just integrated with their inventory system, so once you've bought it it won't set it off.

That is actually nice, considering the type of wankers that work/go to the Apple store.

That's quite a lot of money for earphones. You can get really good ones for under a tenner on Amazon. If you're going to spend £50, you might as well get (actual) headphones that'll last forever and sound a lot better, then a cheap pair of earphones for short trips/nights out.

I did quite a bit of reading on the nerdy headphone forums before I committed, they've got very good reviews.

I've always had headphones before but the good Chinese ones for £50 are all from aliexpress and I don't want to wait months for them to be delivered. The genuinely good western ones are all a lot more.

I have those (albeit for a MASSIVE £30 cheaper), I'd have never gotten them if it wasn't for maintenance grants/loans for Uni but they're genuinely brilliant.

The sound quality is amazing and the noise cancelling on them is bonkers, even without music.

Some bloke was round on Sunday asking if I want all my grass cut and all the flower beds weeded for £15 every 3 weeks.

He also offered to paint all my fences for £90 and has so far brought it down to £60.

    Great fun.

Christ I couldn't do it. That said, I only listen to music on Spotify after I threw out my 600 or so CD's a few years back, so a 300 quid set of headphones or a tin can on a string isn't going to make any difference when it's streamed.

I bought those Jan 2016 and then again in September and those are still going strong. I've had expensive earphones and there's very little difference. For the money they're amazing and they're used constantly without much tangling.

The last month has seen the purchase of:

    A sofa
    Dining table & chairs
    New TV
    TV units
    New radiator
    Coffee table
    Rug
    Washing machine
    Dishwasher
    Microwave
    Fridge/Freezer
    Desk
    Side table
    Misc gardening equipment
    A million lightbulbs
And a seemingly non-stop avalanche of stuff like pots and pans, toilet roll holders, worktop protectors, plates, place mats, and so on and so on and so on.

I've got to admit, it is quite nice seeing it all start to come together.

My mate's recently moved into a new house so he's currently in the process of getting all that stuff. Initially he gave his wife, who will eventually be the money in the relationship but for now relies on him, twelve hundred quid to get a few household items of whichever type she fancied. When she came back with a coffee table and two scented candles to put on it he decided to take a more active role and now claims he had no idea there was so much stuff to be bought for a house. I'm not sure how you can live to your late twenties and not have a rough picture of how many things there are in a house.

It definitely caught me by surprise when we bought ours. The sheer volume of things is surprising and there's at least 50 things you'd not plan for.

We only had to get a washing machine and sort out curtains and blinds, everything else we either had, came with the house or in the case of cutlery and kitchen stuff, got as presents during the long wait for it to be built.

Just bought a new Android box because the remote broke for the one I had and Quidco gave me £84 before so it was technically free and with a £24 tip.

Looks boss. Hope it's not cheap chinese crap, but I'm sure it'll stream sports good.
