    I say grand a lot.

So at the end of sentences annoys me though.

Ulsterpeople seem to love 'Good man', although I think you get that in bottom Ireland as well.

You reply to ‘how are things’ with ‘how’s it going’ and nobody actually answers either question. Most of our greetings are variations of asking how you are instead of saying hello but you don’t actually tell them.

My old Irish colleague used to ask "hows she cutting" in lieu of "alright?" "Not a bother on her" replaced "alright."

She definitely did it in piss takey way, though.

That’s more common above but I’ve heard it a bit here too in the surrounding counties.

My standard greeting is ‘well?’ but it’s one of the only words that I still say in a northy accent.

Adidas had a mega sale here. Snapped up the United home and away kits, the Juventus home kit, 5 pairs of the Tiro football pants, and 6 boxers for about 190 quid.

Just bought an Acer Gaming Monitor for Ł85 delivered. I have an old gaming pc sat in the spare room gathering dust. It has been experiencing some performance issues when doing anything intensive (crashes out) but I am going to try and resolve them (open it up, compressed air spray, investigate cooling and PSU) and see what I can do regarding upgrading it though it has a decent spec still I'd argue. I don't like plugging it into the main tv for any length of time because it's an OLED so I fear the burn, but having the pc functional will give me access to the internet in the way tablets and phones lack, aswell as letting me use the steam library I have spent a fortune on.

A new boiler. Changing from a 20 year old conventional to a combi so it's cost me 3 grand for the pleasure of ensuring I continue to have hot water and central heating. Could've used the kettle and worn a load of wool.

Lockdown got in the way but I made them aware, I wanted to return it during the 40 day period pre-lockdown. I finally managed to get someone on the phone after my emails were ignored and it's been agreed, I can still swap it out. I need a softer version but it appears I would need to put extra coins on top.

I've had the narrowboat life on my mind for a couoke years and it peaks in these summer times to the point where I browse listings and research all kinds.

Anyway, Lidl are doing this in their middle aisle this week which has given me an erection.

    https://www.lidl.co.uk/en/p/summer-e...e-kayak/p33474

It's not allowed on my local lake and needs paperwork and all kinds of rules for Grand Union Canal but very tempted to give it a whirl this Saturday.

My old supervisor lived on a canal boat for a while and she said the novelty wears off very quickly. She was the type of person who would have done her best to embrace it as a load of quirky shit as well, so it really must have been terrible.

I could live on one of those pleasure yachts, the type that Inspector Montalbano always finds dead bodies on in Ragusa harbour. A barge that's narrower than me in cold England, no gracias.

I’ve met two [sets of] people who lived on boats. One was a couple whose boat felt just like a house and they seemed to really embrace that they could park up (dock? olol) in loads of places and spend the day there or whatever.

The other was a fat old bloke whose boat was like a dark shed and it was grim.

Regent's canal from Kings X to Stratford in summertime is the peak of human society.

Also some of these communities are full of strippers (and bankers but probably the good ones who carry a heavy burden of shame).
