Why are all the "experts" so high on the Vikings DST this year? Most people have them ranked 2nd behind only the Jaguars.... they were so shit last year (in fantasy, not necessarily in real life) so what has changed?

I'm tempted to trade them away unless I'm missing something.

Just did a mock on Fantasy Pros out of boredom and one of the other teams was called 'Golden Grahams', I'm suing.

Along those lines, I need to find a Hopkins inspired name for my Dynasty team after he caught the pass that won the league last season.

I'm assuming the green bar represents the player being got at good value. Agholor is a steal at R15.

Seems like you jumped the gun on a TE there. I'd be hard pressed to take even Gronk in the 4th. There's just so much value out there. Obviously things are different with more teams in the league, but the TE spot isn't like it was 2/3 years ago. Back then there was Gronk and then there was the rest.

Which was even more reason not to draft one early unless you got Gronk. Now there is a realistic reason to do it because Gronk/Kelce/Ertz are all better then playing the crap shoot that is the rest of the position.

QB & TE are both disgustingly deep this year compared to the last few, with a good 20 QBs & 15 TEs that could all be solid starters if needed. Picking the right one, as always, will be the problem, so taking the guy you know is a going to be a stud does still have some advantages.

Brate isn't going to keep the job, Howard will take it. Fuck Brate. And fuck trying to choose between Charles Clay, Trey Burton and Delanie Walker each week. If I can get a proper every week starter at TE, I'd pay the price for it.

We remember that the Bucs just gave Brate a 6 year, big money contract, right? He’ll still be the red zone guy for at least one or two more years - Jameis loves him.

The contract allows them to get out of it for free after 1 more year though. They're clearly using it as insurance in case something doesn't work out with Howard, but when he takes off they'll cut Brate.

My Dynasty draft is under way but we're doing an offline draft. Everyone ensured me they wanted to motor through it as quickly as possible yet the guy with Pick 2 is dragging it out so long (he traded up from Pick 6 about 6 hours ago and hasn't picked yet). I look forward to my one pick in 3 months time.

It made sense to me because some teams had so few picks (I have 1 after trading my 1st away for Wilson) and it wasn't worth the effort getting everyone together. What I didn't expect is someone to trade up from #6 to #2 and then spend hours trying to trade back down. He has a deadline of 12 hours, but I'm regretting making that so long.

He just made me an offer though....

    I give:
Todd Gurley OR Le'Veon Bell (nice to have choices)
    Devin Funchess OR Mike Williams
Any other Player on my team (you have to keep the numbers even) OR my 2nd rounder (only pick I have)
    My 2019 2nd Rounder

    I get:
    Christian McCaffrey
    Jimmy Graham
    Pick #2
    His 2019 First Rounder

Hard pass straight away. Not even close.

So there was a team in this league who had a horrible draft. Tom Brady was his round 1 pick in a dynasty for fuck sake. He has, for my money, comfortably the worst team in the league (but somehow finished 3rd) with his starting line up looking like:

    Brady
    Crabtree, Fitzgerald, Edelman
    C.Thompson, D.Lewis
    Kelce (his only real asset)
Jordan Reed and Demarco Murray in the flex
    Seattle/Dallas DST

And basically fuck all on the bench.

He's just traded Chris Thompson away for Kelvin Benjamin and used the #5 overall pick on Mo Sanu.

    Close to booting him.

Been offered the next pick in the draft for Mark Ingram. The pick could see me take: DJ Moore, Calvin Ridley, Ronald Jones or Royce Freeman.

I'm still inclined to stick with the proven talent. Any one think I should take it?

Depends on what your options are at RB/WR.

Ingram is 28, in the final year of his contract and has to serve a 4 game suspension. Running backs have been known to fall off a cliff at 30 too.

RB: Gurley, Bell, Howard, McKinnon, Ingram, Henry
WR: Hopkins, Allen, Adams, Cooper, Watkins, Robinson, Funchess, Shepherd, Mike Williams

Ingram very much is expendable, but I'm not sure any of the remaining rookies is quite enough value to tempt me. Of course if I could trade that pick for someone better (even by including a few fringe players) then that is different, and it's an avenue I'm exploring, but no guarantees on that.

I'd like to take a chance on Ridley personally. I like him especially with the Julio situation not looking all too good. Though this depends. Can you afford to take a shot at the WR? Can the rest of your RB corps carry you if you trade Ingram away and the guy you get doesn't do much?

EDIT: Just seen your team. Keep Ingram for now. Aim to trade for a player you actually want after the draft.

I was thinking Moore or Ridley but it's not like your WR's are lacking (and they're all young enough) so yeah.

I'd probably want a bit more with your options.

Well we got through 1 round with 7 RBs and Sanu being taken..... still can't believe Sanu...

Should be someone useful there at 16, hopefully.

It isn't. This is a rookie/free agent draft so most players aren't there. If picks went according to the Yahoo 2018 rankings, Sanu would have gone in the 3rd round.

Hurns has just gone as the 2nd WR off the board.... Jesus, that's risky, but could pay off. They have no one else to throw to, I guess.

The worst part about Sanu is he was my player, so I could have traded him for that pick. Of course, I wouldn't have, because I never would have thought to offer it, but there we are.

It's going to be stunning if Ridley falls to me at 16. I don't expect it.... but we have 3 more picks to go (Moore has gone).

I was planning to take a RB but the best one left now is probably Aaron Jones. Meanwhile at WR we have Calvin Ridley, Nelson Agholor, Courtland Sutton, Christian Kirk, Chris Godwin or the heroic homecoming of Corey "Todd Gurley" Coleman. It won't be Corey. But it's going to be tough to pick between those, even if 2 are taken.

    Number 1, obviously.

Paul Richardson was taken... so only 1 of that list (at worst) will be gone. Any suggestions?

Very good chance, although the guy does have more pressing needs than WR. I could see him taking Delanie Walker who shouldn’t be there.

I’m thinking Agholor is the contingency.

Calvin Ridley is the only draft pick of the champions

He was there, but I passed on him for Ridley. Agholor then went 2 picks later.

So far the full draft order is:
Barkley, Guice, Penny, Michel, Sanu, Chubb, Freeman, Jones II
Hurns, Moore, Burton, K.Johnson, D.Johnson Jr, Richardson, Walker, Ridley
    Kirk, Agholor, A.Miller

Part of me wishes I'd cut the Ravens DST for another pick in the 3rd round, but I just don't get why a middle of the pack fantasy defense like the Vikings is being projected so high. Ultimately it shouldn't matter because I have the Jaguars... but I'll keep both for a while until we know what the Vikings are, and then look to cut/trade one of them.

Sanu aside, I don't think I've hated any pick, but Hurns and Richardson were reaches for sure.

My favourite draft so far is the newcomer of our league. He had pick 2 overall which he traded down (Kenyan Drake and Pick 6 for Pick 2 and his 3rd rounder) so ended up getting Drake/Chubb whereas his trade partner got Guice/Agholor. He then got DJ Moore in the 2nd round. He's doing some good work to fix a not great team (Albeit one that under performed last year).

We finished off Round 3 with Ballage (who?), Gallup, Aaron Jones, Houston and then my first keeper. I'm tempted to try and trade the Ravens DST for a pick and take Sutton... but I don't need him, I would just be stockpiling. He should not be on the board at this stage.

Picking at 16 I was eyeing Godwin if no RBs I liked fell that far and I was happy enough with him, so it's insane that not only did both Ridley and Sutton fall to me, but Sutton is still there.

Blockbuster trade time.... I sold the farm to get my guy:

Gave Up: Kirk Cousins, Sammy Watkins, Jerick McKinnon, Ravens DST
Got: Leonard Fournette and 3 draft picks (rounds 7-9).

Happy with it though. Watkins was my WR5 (I can technically start 5 but with my RBs I always start 3) and Cousins was my QB2 but I'm sure Mahomes/Luck can make up for him. Been negotiating it all day, glad it's done. Someone else tried to muscle in on it offering Stafford, McCaffrey and Jeffrey to the same guy for David Johnson or Barkley so I had to improve my bid slightly (added the Ravens and upped Ingram to McKinnon) to fend him off.

One team had Johnson, Fournette AND Barkley?!

Not sure I'd trade that much for him but he's definitely the best player in the deal so it's still a win.

Yea. It's an 8 team league so everyone is a bit stacked, but he went Johnson and Fournette in 1 and 2 and then came last so got Barkley. Losing Johnson all year while having DT as your best WR will do that to you, I guess.

I know I've over paid but Watkins wasn't likely to play much for me unless he really hit it out the park and while I liked McKinnon it's a big upgrade at RB. Cousins means nothing to me having got Wilson earlier on. Now to find some scrubs with these 3 picks.

I turned those 3 picks into Corey Coleman (who will be Kareem Hunt soon I'm sure), Crowell and Chris Hogan. Nothing to write home about, but should be solid enough bench options.

    Leaves me with:

    QB: Wilson, Luck, Mahomes
WR: Hopkins, Allen, Adams, Cooper, Robinson, Funchess, Shepard, Williams, Ridley, Coleman, Hogan
RB: Bell, Gurley, Howard, Ingram, Henry, Fournette, Crowell
    TE: Henry, Howard
    DST: Jags, Vikings
    K: Lutz

Can't say I'm unhappy with that. I completely forgot I had Amari Cooper when I was negotiating the Fournette trade and thought I had offered my WR5... guess he was actually my 6. Even better.

By comparison here is the team Yahoo is projecting to win the league:

    QB: Rodgers, Stafford, Carr
WR: Beckham, Jeffrey, Thielen, Hill, Richardson, Agholor, Doctson, Bryant, Sutton
RB: Zeke, Kamara, McCaffrey, Guice, A.Jones, Montgomery, Thompson
    TE: Graham, Rudolph, Engram
    DST: Denver, Rams
    K: Tucker, Zuerlein

I mean, they are easily my biggest threat, but I'd take mine any day of the week.

He’ll kick the fuck out of anyone in a kicker battle. Rest of the team is nowhere close though.

What does the Sanu team look like?
