You know I was the one that posted it saying it was made up nonsense right? I'm just saying it shouldn't be.

However, I would note that we spent 11 billion on an NHS IT system that never happened and we're spending 85 billion on HS2 so you can get to Birmingham 10 minutes faster than before. There is money to do legitimately good things.

Look, I'm as left wing as it gets but I'm totally for privatised telecoms if it means magic has to come to my house to install my phones.

BT reckon they can come and install their super-duper broadband in this house (with a new line) in 'up to ten working days'. Try three months under British Telecom. And what has the government paid for over the past couple of decades? They are putting money up to roll it out to the middle of nowhere (which they shouldn't), but the current infrastructure was not their doing, and they absolutely coined it in on the two spectrum auctions (the first one almost wrecking the companies bidding).

Strange that considering I've had both BT and Virgin install new lines and both took longer than that. Almost like these private companies can make up nonsense and there's no system of reprecussion for it.

Government literally pays for every single piece of wire that connects it all together. Virgin threatened to rollback their installation targets when the government threatened to make the private company that directly profits off it pay for it.

At the end of the day, can you still in 2019 apply for a job without an internet connection? I doubt it in 99.9% of cases. It's a pretty compelling case on it's own.

Maybe they'll make broadband like water, ie you can't be disconnected from it even if you never pay? Is that particular urban legend even true?

Between nationalising all the utilities (at a discount) and giving 10% of all company shares to 'the workers' anyone with a private pension is well and truly going under the Corbyn bus if they somehow manage to get in. Good luck to you all.

The repercussions are that you go somewhere else. The old boy at work today reckoned it took the Post Office eleven months to install him a phone in the seventies. The best anybody else could do was seven. I'm not sure what you think the government has been spending money on all these years, but Gordon Brown only started talking about government rolling broadband out in his final days, and Broadband Delivery UK, which promised us the best internet in Europe by 2015, never did shit all until it was recently re-launched to bribe companies into extending coverage into Bumfuck village twenty miles from mains water (which they shouldn't be doing).

It all works well. Nationalisation doesn't.

I genuinely do have no choice but to spoil my ballot for the up coming election. Only Conservatives, Labour and Lib Dems are running here (all of which can get fucked).

We have 1 independent. His name is "77 Joseph". At first I thought he was the British 6ix9ine, but no:

"This candidacy is in memory of Joseph Odoginyon who died prematurely in 2018 while waiting for a heart transplant."

That's it. I can't find anything else on him.

I'm getting all sorts through the door.

Do I vote for the person representing the party that contains the person I want to be prime minister, or bother looking into the individual claims of these unimportant, irrelevant [in the grand scheme of things] losers?

    Got this choice, apparently:

    OXLEY Daniel – Brexit Party

RIMMER Marie Elizabeth – Labour Party

SHORT Richard Alan – Conservative Party Candidate

SPENCER Brian Thomas – Liberal Democrat

TAYLOR Kai Anthony – Green Party - Save Our Green Space
I'm usually a 100% labour man cos of where I live ("a dog with a red rosette could get in round your way" - my father-in-law) but last time voted green cos Marie Rimmer (labour) is a known bad-egg, and my wife asked me to vote for green. Green got in, locally, afaik.

Tempted to vote for Brexit Party, who I didn't even know was a thing, just to see people lose their minds.
    I'm a twit

I have very, very low expectations for Boris Johnson in this debate. Reckon our Jeremy will just have to say 'selling our NHS to US corporations' 50 times and a ten point lead will be his.

The only reasons I can think he is bothering with this is 1) they must think that Theresa May BOTTLING them last time hurt her; and/or 2) he intends to counter all of the hand-wringing about Our NHS and food banks by turning every single question back to BREXIT DITHER AND DELAY (with this latter option probably being decided pre-Brexit Party shitting the bed).

Boris making up shit on the hoof in a debate will probably be marginally less shit than Boris pretending to make shit up on the hoof on those dreadful party political ads/vids you see.

I've a feeling this debate might out car crash Prince Andrew.

They will both just shout their respective key phrases over and over again. The fortunate thing for Boris is that these debates tend to be quite neatly packaged into policy areas, and the only area where Corbyn definitely has the upper hand on him is stuff that involves spraying money around, like the NHS, schools, free broadband etc etc.

On Brexit, Boris has a clear position and Jezza does not, and on foreign policy Corbyn is nothing short of a joke. If I was advising Corbyn I would try and make him look like the Mr Bean style underdog and Boris looking like the braying Etonian bully that he indeed is. From Boris's point of view, he wants to look like the sensible one and Corbyn like a beardy crank.

I would too but Corbyn is an absolutely terrible debater. Too many years of being the ignored minority. He's no good at winning an argument because he's never had to speak his own truth.

This works in the last election but not this one. With Lib Dems sucking up all the remainer votes he has to absolutely slay the Tory's and it's not happening.

Trying to copy America is exactly why these debates are crap.

Both of these lads are old enough to remember After Dark and should do that. Political debate over Pints and Cigarettes like it should be.
