No one (or at least no one in a majority) in positions of power on either side wants the UK to leave.

Another extension. We want 30th June, Tusk, probably aware he will be granting extensions every 10 minutes, is set to say 'fuck it, just have another year you useless cunts'

If I were running the EU, I would just show the lot of them up by saying 'you know what, take as long as you want, just let us know when you're leaving'.

She must be at least partially mentally ill, it's the only explanation for her carrying on this long.

Because she can't give the job away. She sounds absolutely knackered.

She doesn't have to give it to anyone, she could just quit and let one of the many spineless fucks in her party do it.

It must have become a mania thing because of how the NARRATIVE has shifted from wanting to get is passed simply in order to get on with the rest of her time in office (so much stuff left to ban and tax) to being willing to resign once it has passed, and blow up the Conservative Party passing it. Why carry on with it other than because you can't accept losing?

In all seriousness, there is no rational explanation I can think of. It's maniacal and has been for months.

The way she differs from Brown is that unlike him, she is thick as shit and has no intellectual basis for anything she does. It's all the worst kind of humourless English reaction to imagined threats that do not exist. I know her type. Most of them become English teachers at low grade private schools.

The bunker accounts are going to be belting once Admiral Doenitz is safely in place. That story about her trying to use 'Brexit means Brexit' on the European waxworks will be the tip of the shiteberg.

It's pretty obvious why she's carrying on, her career is ruined whether she leaves or not, and that's been the case for a year. If she quits, though, she's a quitter on top of everything else.

    I doubt it's about money.

If she quits, she'll go down in history as a completely useless PM who gave up when things got too tough. If she can see it through, she probably thinks history might remember her kindly. She maybe even thinks if she can deliver Brexit, she'll get a decent enough bounce in the polls to stay on.

Not that history will remember her kindly, more that she can point to a thing she did in office. Otherwise, it's just a succession of votes culminating in the thing people voted for not happening.

She must be close to the worst Prime Minister in history now, who are the contenders? Eden always gets chucked in. Neville? There are probably a slew of non-modern-era divots. The 19th Century was pretty solid, Wellington, Peel, Disraeli, Gladstone, dunno about Lord Palmerston. Maybe an early 20th century bod like Asquith or Bonar Law if he ever got the job, for name alone.

Considering she's also completely torpedoed her own party she must also be in the running for straight worst political leader in modern British history. A million points clear in the polls to a fractured party staring down the barrel of a decade out of power in just a couple of years. Just goes to show, never threaten to take old peoples' homes off them.

May is getting an unfairly rough ride here. Sure, she should have quit by now and she is rubbish, but she literally has an impossible job.

Cameron, for getting us into this mess in the first place, for no other reason than to protect his own position, was far far worse.

Impossible job or not (I am obviously inclined to say not), she is a massive failed disgrace on the election campaign and habitual dishonesty alone. Edward Heath is the Gold Standard as far as shit post-war Prime Ministers go, and the similarities in terms of their approaches are pretty striking. I think she is running him pretty close now. Tony Blair was obviously terrible in terms of what I like, but you could at least say he succeeded on his own terms, which has to rule him out on any 'objective' measure.

It's probably the best it's been at the moment insofar as there is the possibility of one person/body finally exercising a reasonable degree of control over the place [and killing Islamists and migrant smugglers]. Naturally then, we're doing our best to prevent that happening.

How can somebody who by his own judgement thought Brexit would be a disaster, but somehow conspired to deliver it anyway (arf), not be seen as worse than May?

He got the Conservatives elected as leader.

He may have botched things fairly spectacularly thereafter, but that is at least, in itself, an achievement.

May might have been bequeathed a poisoned chalice, but she seized it herself, willingly (realising no party in their right mind would elect such a leader in normal circumstances), managed to squander the majority she took over against the least electable Labour Party for 30 years and has generally overseen the most feckless government in many a generation with the sort of dogged incompetence which appears to be the hallmark of all her efforts in office.

Her final gift will be the oblivion offered by a Corbyn government.

I think David Cameron was crap, and will look crapper as time goes on (especially if Labour undo his main 'achievements' within a week of taking over), but there was a smash-up coming over Europe at some point. I'm sure he wouldn't have offered a vote up if he thought he was going to lose, but if he had won everyone would be calling him a legend for putting it to bed.

The point I'm trying to make is that it's all irrelevant to his standing, and largely happened in spite of him. Remain like to blame him as part of their NARRATIVE that nobody actually cared about Europe, and that we have all been hijacked by a Conservative Party drama, but that is a comfort blanket for idiots.

The alternative was Angela Leadsom. Boris and Gove backed right the fuck out. It was the equivalent of picking sides at footy and everyone taking a step back.

These lot will do anything to be on TV.

On that note, why do I have to keep hearing from Mark France talking about fighting them on the beaches etc. all the time? He doesn't seem to be a particularly powerful or influential character but gets on TV all day because he'll talk about the Germans like he wants to call them Bosch.

TV will put anyone on who gets them eyeballs, it's a bit embarrassing. I've heard from the inside that when you get booked onto things like Newsnight, they are looking for people to take a predefined adversarial stance and if you say 'Well, actually...' then they bin you and book a rent-a-gob.

The hardline Brexiteers are now blaming the Queen for not blocking Cooper-Letwin, they have gone insane.

What's the general opinion on Bercow? I fell into the Youtube-rabbithole of "highlights" of him donning it, but being involved in British politics I'm sure he's a complete twat in reality right?

He's a complete twat of almost remarkable proportions. If we did a draft of all 650 MPs to have a drink with, he would be right in the last 20 on my list along with the likes of Caroline Lucas, Bill Cash and Keith Vaz.

I think the idea is for the opposite, ie 'exhausting' all options and so having to have another vote. Which hopefully goes the right way this time. I think at this point there is one form of potential disaster that has to be faced up to and accepted, the economic one from leaving, or the political one from not. I tend to think the latter is actually the more dangerous in the long term, but there isn't much traction for that line of thinking so it'll be stay and hope that Nigel Farage hasn't turned into the bad guy from V for Vendetta in 10 years.
