Gravy on pancakes is absolutely a thing in Yorkshire though. Maybe not the prevalent way of doing things, but I know of plenty of other people who eat them that way. Essentially everyone on my mothers side of the family for starters, and it's been that way as long I've been alive. I didn't even realise it was considered "weird" until I was an adult. So leave Hammer alone, you set of bastards.
Deep frying a Mars Bar isn't exactly my idea of a good time, and I'm sure it's not the preferred way of eating one in Scotland, but I'm not denying it's a valid method of consuming them.
Also, just to flip things around (and to fan the flames even more), jam on Yorkshire puddings (as a desert mind you, not mixed in amongst a roast) is not unheard of either. That's possibly more of an olden days type of thing though. I've seen my Uncle, who must be pushing seventy now, do it. He says it used to be a thing when he was a kid.
Most of these traditions date back to a time before Tony Blair when there was fuck all food around, so things like pancakes/gravy would just be a case of combining two of the four things you had at your disposal, the others being dripping and bitterness.

I had a brief idea to give up caffeine and then had a bitch of a day. 5 coffees and 1½ litres of Pepsi Max later and it was a no go.
Everyone seems to be putting their Pepsi Max prices up round here. I bought some Coke Zero the other day to try and leave me with some options, but it tastes like nothing, so whatever I'll have to pay it.
It's woeful stuff in comparison. There's still good deals around here on the Max in the little fat bottles and the big tins.
Pepsi Max is fucking disgusting. Coke Zero is a million times better than it.
I would take actual Coke over actual Pepsi any day of the week, but shut up you fanny.
Coke Zero is fizzy brown water. I'd rather the Cola Xero in Tesco (or the Aldi equivalent) if the Max can't be got. 2 litre bottles are a pain in the hole though as they're flat too quick.

I don't have a Coke/Pepsi preference. It just depends what I fancy at the time. They taste quite different.

That's it. I don't mind eating shit because there's no nice tasting alternatives to most things but there's no point in drinking all the sugar when the ones without it taste the same or better.
The odd time I buy a cola drink it needs to be Coca Cola, or failing that some of those trendy small company ones are decent.
All sugar-free drinks are dog shit. Pepsi Max is probably the worst of them all though, not that it matters though as they're al so awful.
After a week you wouldn't go back. I drink 2 litres of the stuff a day so I can't afford to take in the full blown one anyway.
I can't imagine drinking soft drinks to that degree. It's like I'm having tea at home or water at work. Also, this week I realised I liked crumpets a great deal.

If you drink amounts like that I understand why you'd go for the sugar free one as eating sugar straight from the pack would probably be less harmful to your teeth. I have tried the sugar free ones many times (my grandad was diabetic, so he used to have the sugar free stuff at theirs all the time and as a kid Pepsi Max > nothing) but it just tastes wrong to me.

Pepsi Max just tastes chemically sweetened to me. It's horrible.
Diet Coke's a bit better but still not great. Coke Zero actually kinda tastes like Coke. Although I try to avoid fizzy drinks more these days.
I love unadulterated coca cola and dr pepper, but I'll only have it once every 3 months or so.
Dr P is the king. So hard pick up the diet one here though. Their museum tour is fun and you get shitloads free.
I'm happy just drinking water. My teeth and tongue much prefer it to anything brown and fizzy.
