I had a new boiler put in in my parents house as I've had to move in here for a bit (I'm clearly cursed because after my already stellar year so far my landlord died and his estate want to sell the flat I was in) and it stopped working and the company reckoned it was this.
Out fucking watering my outpipe with hot water like a crazy person (sounded like a recipe for a cracked pipe to me but Google assures me it's fine so what's the worst that could happen?) and it hasn't even fixed it.

We've got about a millimeter of snow here, but that is enough to close daycare, schools, museums, libraries, etc. Bunch of good for nothings.
Just been out and after faffing about defrosting the car windows I then had the pleasure of driving into the sun for most of my journey.
The lad who looked at my pipe (oi oi) said that water isn't a great solution. If doing water it should be warm, it can take a lot of it and you run the risk of burst pipe.
He said that a hairdryer is a much better option (it worked for me) and then wrap said pipe in a blanket/towels to help it not re-freeze.
However I have no idea if that will work on a boiler out pipe.
I might buy a hairdryer, just in case my pipes freeze one day.

-6C here (saaaaf London). Snow's clung on all week, but because our little close hasn't been cleared, what was here has just been compacted into ice making it a total ice rink.
The delta in my house between upstairs and downstairs feels like about 15C. Upstairs – sauna, downstairs – ice dungeon.

Exactly the same here. Its been pretty fun watching unsuspecting visitors fly round off the clear main road in third gear, lose the back end and then wheel spin their way to wherever they are parking.

Going down to -16 today. Daycare is closed until Tuesday and both the library and the children's museum decided to also close. Not sure what I am supposed to do with my daughter until Tuesday.
