Got there again without using another gem, guess I just had a bad patch in the middle. Got 62 saved up so that should be at least 1 more run at 11.

Just discovered a game changer....
Guy had Yveltal out and the maximum damage he can do is 100. Something in my head told me I should attack him with Keldeo using X-Defense to ensure he couldn't kill me even if he landed the 100. In hindsight it was dumb as fuck because I couldn't kill him so the "only" way that I knew of that that fight could have any effect is if he hit one of his purple moves. I hit Hydro Kick which does 40 Vs his 100.... but he died due to the secondary effect of Hydro Kick. I knew about that, obviously, but it's only ever come into effect before when Keldeo has died. I imagine it also comes into effect if they spin purple (or maybe even Blue? I'm not sure) but I had no idea if I protected myself from dying it would also workThat'll be worked into my strategy going forward.

For some reason 7-8 is such a pain in the arse. I just lost 4 in a row after winning 7 on the bounce but then I got drawn against the jobber deck (2 Beedrill, 2 Pinsir, 2 Hercross.... why does that happen) and got the inevitable 3 turn win and then got to 10 easily. Still 10 gems left (used some again for energy... which I'm now out of) so if I can get 1 win in 2 attempts I'll get to 11 for the 3rd time.
I better get better rewards than last time.
I lost both games (the 2nd of which was utter, utter bullshit) so cut my losses and opened on 10. Got an Aggron EX.
Some early exits this morning (with no gems left) have seen me collect 3 Magikarp. Utterly useless unless I can find Gyarados...

My dreams of Gyarados are probably done as I can't string anything together whatsoever and I can't seem to get any gems.
Guy I just beat must be fuming. I kept making really dumb mistakes and he got about 3-4 surround deaths on me without me killing anyone. He got 1 too many kills and it released Articuno who then ran straight for his goal. I attacked his Salamence on the goal line and he got Fly Over which left the goal open for Articuno but it was his turn. He attacked me back and died.
And next opponent took me on Greninja Vs Greninja early doors and he had an X-Attack but span a miss so I killed him with 1 Shuriken.... then after I blocked off both his entry points he attacked Greninja 3 times with Natu and span Future Sight all 3 times and I dodged them all. In one way it was lucky for him as 1 Shuriken would have seen him off but it also let me move up Lapras to surround him.
I managed to get to 7 without any Gems so now I'm protecting it but losing a lot. Up to 9 with 4 lives left having just energised. Hope I can make it but too many people have multiple birds.
2 lives remaining (think it was actually 3 when I last posted) and I come up against a cunt with 4 birds, a Lugia and a Gyarados. Fuck off.
Got to 11 the fight after that and was rewarded with another load of shite.

Love my common as muck Goomy. He's won me two or three matches singlehandedly with his Slippery Swap move. Combine that with switching him in for a high up Shuppet and you are laughing. Up into the 2100s now.
Did it back to back just now. Shuppet as high as he can go, switch to Goomy and Slippery Swap with the goal defender.

Just came up against someone with a ridiculous deck (3 legendary birds etc) after only 1 win.... due to him having so many birds I decided fuck it and went for Shuppet over Articuno and Shuppet KOed his Zapdos for the 3 turn win.
I've just added a 2nd Hurdle Jump to my deck and it's paying dividends. The amount of times I hurdle jump someone and their only move is to Hurdle jump back... being able to do it twice really fucks some people up.
Lapras is a fucking don.
Facing some guy in a good close fight. He had 2 KOs to my 1 but crucially he had locked down both my entry points early meaning he had a 3 (Wobbuffet on his goal, Gyarados and Ho-Oh on my corners) on 2 (Lapras on my goal, Keldeo roaming) advantage. It was only 3 on 2 as opposed to 4 on 2 because earlier Lapras had heroically taken Latios out of the game, never to return. He couldn't bring Wobuffet up as Keldeo would get to the goal before he got to surround Lapras that way so he went for it with Gyarados and Lapras put him to sleep. This let me bring Shuppet back in but Ho-Oh went for Lapras.... and fell asleep. Now my strategy was obvious.... take on Wobuffet with Shuppet in a can't lose match up. I did but I hit the burn (damn it!) and he Pokemon switched Wobuffet for Ho-Oh and set about trying to go wake up Gyarados. It was easy to move Lapras into his path and then I had all day to bring out my last mon and get the surround on Ho-Oh.
Oh I got Venusaur last night from a 4 win (I think it was?) pack.
Is today the last day of this event? It says it ends Thursday at 5:00 but I have no idea which time zone that is.

To replace them without fucking with booster odds.
If they add more EX/R's without taking some out it makes it more likely that you'll unpack them.
Makes sense but wish they'd get rid of useless ones.

I needed an 11 box to try and get Gyarados and it worked.
First 5 games have yielded 5 wins so the first 10 gems go on energy. Don't mind that at all.
There is no better finish to a match than someone attacking Manaphy thinking it's an easy kill and Manaphy hitting Manaphy's Song allowing you to move their Blastoise off their goal and leave it wide open.
I also had one where Manaphy did that twice to a Gyarados who if he could kill Manaphy would win the game. Twice Manaphy made him fuck off and it gave me the time I needed to get into the goal.
Fucking love Manaphy when he works.
Constantly getting people rolling misses against my Magikarp ffs.
Gyarados isn't getting a sniff.
Lost on 8 so we're down to 80 gems (I found another 15 in my messages). Knowing my luck it'll be all full legendary bird teams and we won't get there.

Gyarados better be available later on somehow. It's royally unfair if Pokemon are exclusive to events unless you're guaranteed to get them for reaching a certain landmark.
I've got to the story mission that gives you Taillow so I'm going to keep spamming it until I get him.

I just knocked out a Moltres with a Magikarp
I got Blastoise this morning, who has taken the place of Lapras in my deck. It's a sad moment as Lapras has the most games played of any figure with 561 and has been the leader since Pikachu lost his place on 373. Greninja (532) and Manaphy (511) are now the favorites to be the first to 1000.
Blastoise seems to be the missing piece for me though. He has the same MP as Lapras and while his Purple move isn't that great (it kills opponents who also spin Purple, but as it only has 2 stars it only comes into play if they have 1....) his move does 100 which with Manaphy's boost becomes 120 making him a perfect counter for Legendary Birds, Yvetal etc.
Deoxys is only a little bit fucking broken. Wait til you come across a whole team of them and you can do fuck all.
