The work required from the dev team to make this work (at this scale) is pretty staggering. They're a fairly small games company and they've had to deal with more traffic than Twitter pretty much right from the start. Mind you, they're probably shitting money.

Yielded 2 Pidgey so far.... fun.
I did evolve a 91 Pidgey into a 173 Pidgeotto which is about 40 more than my other one. Can't decide if that's worthy of the 50 candies to make it Pidgeot (which would also level me up to level 8) or if I want to keep waiting for a better Pidgeotto before I invest that.
3 Pidgeys!!!! At least none of them crashed the game.
Living in a country town is a bit shit for this. There's only about 3 or 4 stops in a 15 minute walk of the house. So I took a walk up to our castle and was obviously delighted to see this:

Combat level 1066 Vaporeon
Three new additions to the Pokedex in the form of Growlithe, Bulbasaur and Venonat. Up to level 9 now too. After a transfer clearout I've amassed the equivalent of 35k worth of exp in preparation for the grind I will carry out at level 10. Come to me Pidgeys.
Wasted all my poke balls on a Pidgeot which was hopeless and I got nowhere near it. So horrible not having any and having to raid the poke stops every 10 minutes. Back up to 16 now!
Added Krabby and Pidgeot (evolved mine to get over the disappointment) to the pokedex and discovered 2 new poke stops not far from my regular 2. Not too bad.
The fairly modest park in Rugby town centre has about 8 pokestops, and there's about 7 in quick succession on the short road leading up to it. Park is excellent for catching stuff as there's almost always a lure module on at least one of them in there.
I'm pretty bad with chucking Pokeballs but even I still have 130 of the blighters. I am pretty thorough in collecting supplies from the Pokestops though, despite almost never getting more than three items. Is there a trick to getting more items or is it completely random?
Forgot to mention I've caught my first 200+CP Pokemon. Guess what, another Magnemite.
Finally caught enough Weedle to add Beedrill to the pokedex and reached level 9 so I'm back up to 31 poke balls!
Just got a lucky egg too... What is the best way to make use of them?
I've caught 2 above 200 (Hypno 278 and Drowzee 228) and got 2 more over it by evolving (Pidgeot 383 and Raticate 214).
Wait until you've got shit loads of crappy pokemon to evolve like rattatas and then spam them all with the lucky egg activated. Ideally combine with going to a few pokestops too - especially if there's lures around!
Activate one before you do a mass evolution of Pidgeys or something else, and you gain levels like crazy. I'm at 15 now.
Get a couple of 10km hatches in there too and you'll get loads of exp.
I've never even seen a 10km egg.
If you can, couple it with an incense too.
Although mass evolution is better, every little helps.

Trying to catch a bunch of Pidgey/Weedle for it. Caterpie doesn't really help as I still need Butterfree and Rattata's cost is a bit too high really at 25. That said I'll just keep catching whatever and then activate it when I have a bunch. Knowing my luck the server will go down when I do.
A trip to the lake (different lake) yielded me a Magikarp (2 down, 98 to get) and 2 high level Psyduck, one of which was about 220 or so. Not too bad.

Brisbane CBD is ridiculous with high level pokemon and lures every. Pitty my connection drops out more often than not. My local dog park is a Pikachu spawn which is fun but it's next to an actual park with playground equipment. Derp
Also i just figured out that i can purchase coins immediately buy adding the cost to my phone bill. Seems a bit dangerous that.
This morning I've reached level 10 and have activated operation "Huge exp gain", by placing three 10k eggs in their incubators. Need another 9.5km of walking though.
Other than that, caught some decent new Pokes including Tentacool, Poliwag, Jigglypuff, Goldeen and Machop. Plus hatched a CP287 Ponyta.
I'm sure I'm not going to bother to get 100 Weedles before I use my lucky egg, no matter what that site says. I'll just catch what I can before the weekend and then evolves it all at the weekend whilst going to the lake with it's a million poke stops and using my lure on one of them. That is if the servers are behaving this weekend.
Haven't been able to play today as it's too hot to take my daughter out in so I'll have to wait until later when I can go out alone. Have got a 10km egg now for the first time but I'm fairly sure once the 2 fives I am incubating hatch I'll only have 1 incubator to use at a time.
Became the gym leader for my favourite and most frequently visited pub last night which made me shamefully proud. Team Blue had nicked it back this morning, which was particularly galling as it is someone I know who's a bit of a wanker.

Had three 5km eggs and a 10km egg hatch today. 327 Nidoran, 365 Goldeen, 571 Jynx and a 584 Ponyta.
How you can hatch anything in this heat is beyond me.
I was driving round with the air conditioning blasting and I decided to buy some incubators.
Speed limit is a bit shit but a lot of village/small town driving does the trick.
Our office building must be affecting the GPS somehow because my character is constantly walking around the map in circles even when I'm sitting down. Eggs hatching all over the place.
Tried to start last night & refused to g outside so I could walk away from the starters & get a Pikachu, so I left it until this morning. Got that sorted on my walk to work, then did a bit on my lunch, caught loads of Pidgey & Rattata, and now I'm back at home not playing it. My egg hatched into a Drowzee (the most common fucker around here bar the big 3) and I can't incubate my 10km one yet. Fuck sake.
On the plus side I found an Eevee to edge closer to evolving one.

Is it properly down now? The closest Pokemon to me was a Haunter (new) and second was Parasect (also new) and then a fucking Pidgey popped up. Still I caught the fucker as I'm collecting them up for my lucky egg but the game crashed and now I'm getting "we're humbled..." when I try and log in.
