I met a moderator of /r/soccer in real life once. He seemed normal up until a woman joined our conversation whereupon he turned into an absolute schizo. Also smelled of damp.

What’s far more annoying is the amount of subreddits that are protesting it by having a blackout or whatever they’re calling it. So when you google something and, of course, the solution at the top of the results is reddit, you click it only to be told it’s private. Or more accurately, the mods of said subreddit are crying about nothing.

99% of my redditing is done on my phone and, aside from the googling you describe, there's simply no way I'm going to use the app or the website. It's definitely a good thing that my access has been revoked tbf.
The higher ups at Reddit have responded to this by sending messages to the mods of each sub that has closed. Essentially says please re-open the sub or the we'll put in our own mod team that will do what we want.
Mods aren't a paid position, it's all voluntary, so they could do it whenever. The mods in certain subs are responding by reopening, but refusing to do anything beyond the letter of the law. For example, there is no rule against posting porn in there, so long as it is labelled as NSFW. Previously they'd delete the porn threads as it's not advertiser friendly, but now they're letting it all go.
It's going to get more messy before it gets better.

The official app is the only one I ever used and it was fine until the last update but now it seems to keep suggesting other subreddits for me that I'm not all interested in.
