He is exciting to watch, but his defence is embarrassing to the point where it negates half of what he does at the other end of the field, so for the money he earns he needs to be putting up Billy Slater numbers which he doesn't. Matt Dufty on half the money would be the smart buy.
This conference system is 1 step away from Super League with 2 completely separate competitions with seperate grand finals and a Super Bowl.
It's a crap idea, and this notion that more derbies is better can be proven wrong by our fixture system which everybody hates precisely because it reduces the meaning of those games. If they want more teams just expand the league and handicap the fixture list based on the previous season standings. How can you want to expand and then organise things into Sydney vs everywhere else?
A stab in the dark would be to sell out more games eg that fancy western Sydney stadium?
Are they trying to kill the game outside of Sydney? The Reds should sellout Suncorp in 2 weeks, the Brumbies will sellout Bruce Stadium this week. Union is back in the good books outside of Sydney.

I think it's a good move for Brisbane in the sense that 1) they need someone like him; and 2) they haven't been rinsed for him like Cronulla were going to be, which suggests that they're still a draw. Is he really that good though? I don't think he's in that top tier of halves, which is probably why Souths haven't gone all out to keep him when he would more than likely have taken unders for a longer contract.

Not even remotely, and it doesn't sound like whoever they were playing were either.
There are only a few teams who take it seriously (Castleford, Leeds, St Helens, Wigan) and the rest just make up the numbers (not unlike actual Super League). St Helens were quite clever about it. Instead of trying to set something up from scratch they just sent Thatto Heath a load of kit and said you're our women's team now, and they've got that lezzer couple to keep Sky Sports interested.

It's a shame the Aus teams continue to struggle in the Trans Tasman Super Rugby comp. A strong NZ/Aus rivalry is good for the game. Not sure what needs to change to bring up the skill level of Aus teams (excluding competition with AFL and NRL).
