I saw a graphic the other day that had Honduras as the worst country in the world for being murdered by an absolute mile. In Tegucigalpa, the capital, the annual murder rate was higher than 1 per 1,000 citizens (in London it's 1 in 100,000).
The official stats I'm reading now back that up, with Honduran murder rates nearly twice as bad as the next worst country, which is Venezuela.
The club he was playing for is in Tegucigalpa, so it's a serious bit of bad luck to live there and be shot to death somewhere with a lower murder rate.
