Didn't care enough to register on the electoral list. Even if I was on it, both campaigns are too much of a disgrace to warrant ten minutes of my time.

I saw a bit about this on ITV News the other day and they were treating the people against it as cranks. I'm 'pro-choice', to the point where I think our laws (as I understand them) are a bit restrictive, but the 'pro-life' argument also seems a pretty logical one (and one maintained with more consistency than the other side), and not deserving of the ridicule it attracts.

I’m pro-life and pro-choice. Given the choice I would keep any child (severe medical issue aside) I helped produce, but I’m not in a position to decide whether that’s right for everyone else. Get an abortion and I’ll possibly agree or disagree with your reasonings, but ultimately it’s none of my business.

I assume the pro-life lot are closely linked to religious groups, which can't be helping their credibility.

If they were also for supporting the type of person that feels it'll ruin their/the childs life then the position is understandable. Otherwise, they're cranks.

There's been loads of American pro-lifers getting involved in the campaign.

Is this that unless you're willing to cover the bill/adopt the kid you're not 'pro-life' meme that appears to ignore how societies collectivise costs for things? Fine, but enjoy rolling that principle out.

I just don't care really as I have no interest in 'society'. They keep going on about 100,000 women travelling to England on boats for them but there's only 3 women in my life I give a shit about and I'll look after them of needs be. If the other 99,997 fall into the sea on the way over then that's their problem. Same as the gay marriage one we had too. I'm not gay and haven't kids so it really didn't matter enough to me to go to a polling station.

Anyway, even if I did care, when you've a No side making out that voting yes means you'll be slitting babies throats at 6 months, and Yes side telling any man that votes no that he doesn't trust women therefore he's basically a RAPIST then it's enough to put anyone off bothering. Everyone campaigning for either should be exiled.

One is too old for it to be a worry and either of the other two would be got to England. I don't have to get 100,000 women over.

It's a shame the old one didn't go to England circa 40-odd years ago.

Not having opinions on anything that doesn’t directly affect you is more than a bit odd, Giggs. In this case all that’s required to vote is a basic level of empathy.

Maybe if someone came to me with two buttons then I'd bother as I don't care either way, but I'm not going down a polling station to queue up with wankers I don't know. And anyway, when you say empathy, so you only mean voting the way you want or just voting at all?

Even taking the people you don't know out of the equation, you'd rather take the risk, however small, that you might have to spend a small fortune to get someone you do care about onto foreign soil for an abortion rather than take half an hour out to pop along to a polling station and check a box?

That's more than just not caring about people you don't know, it's actively spiting yourself to avoid doing anything that might positively impact someone you don't know's life.

You've said you'd get someone you care about an abortion if they needed one, so you obviously think they're fine. Why not vote?

No, both sides require empathy. Just different viewpoints.

Yes is getting in with ease anyway, all the celebrities jumped on it from day one and have been at nothing else since. In all these things there's always a cert so there's zero point in making the effort. Only thing would get me on a voting register is if they ever manage to push one on this "Irish unity" pipe dream. NI voting yes and then us voting no so you can keep them is just inspiring.

The government are behind yes in this so even if they didn't get the right answer they'd just keep having the referendum until they did. And I'm not even making that up, it's happened before.

Horrible story. Some joy riding cunt caused a crash, but wasn't actually involved properly in it, one of the cars caught fire and only when the fire brigade put it out they realised there had been a person inside. Joy rider sped off and dumped the car.

There's no mandate destructive so-called 'Hard Abortions'. The limit should be set at four weeks.

The next thing that needs to happen is the right for men to have a 'financial abortion' of a child in the interests of equality. Even have an opt out period in the same timeframe a woman can decide not to have the child at all. Not that it will though.
