Was the dog food thing because people couldn't afford the energy to cook food?

Because otherwise surely some cheap pasta and a simple sauce would work out cheaper?

Having just noodles a day is a quick way to scurvy and other vitamin deficiencies. May as well get a pack of the dog food with it for a bit of protein.

Sardines (50p) or Weetabix (10p a biscuit, 50pish a serving of milk?) would be my go to if in trouble.

Milk would have been an obvious protein/vitamin booster in any poverty diet, what with it being a superfood, but it seems to have almost doubled in price recently.

I really don't think it's that difficult if you plan. A whole chicken is about Ł3.50. Buy 2 of them and that's ample meat for the week.

Bag of rice, bag of pasta, some tinned tomatoes, a bag of frozen mixed veg.

It's not going to take you to flavour town but that's a weeks food for about Ł15.

Fuck it, chuck a loaf of bread on and some cheap marg, jam, whatever and have toast for breakfast.

Alright you have the cost of cooking it, but if it comes to it the slow cooker - grim as it may be - costs about the same amount as a light bulb.

You know what I mean, but if you visit one of those slow cooker groups on Facebook I absolutely guarantee you a 50-something year old woman with a cat as their profile picture has a recipe for slowcooker toast.

Jack Monroe has grifted an entire career of this nonsense tip shit, 'if you buy minimal ingredients (and have loads in at home) you cab do your shop for Ł20!' Thankfully people saw the light a bit when she reckoned she was watering down soap instead of buying showergel.

I mean, you can if you live an extremely pragmatic life. You can survive on a tiny amount of money. The problem is people have feelings, wants and needs, and they add about a grand to most peoples monthly bills.

Molton must be a billionaire by now off the back of his chicken on pasta savings.

Didn’t Toby do something like this where he challenged himself to live off a tenner a week or less.

Think he basically loaded up on pasta and potato. A meagre existence, but as you say, the do isn’t infeasible, it’s the expectation that “nice” things are needed.

My wife went to meet her mate today in a garden centre café. Came back miserable. Turns out her mates mate died on Wednesday by drowning in Billie Piper's bath. Called Daisy, apparently, and was the live-in nanny for Billie Piper's kids. Not sure if intentional or what. Weird story though.

With the Queen's death it has somehow become fashionable to start banging on about the Empire again. It's all self hating white people that spend too much time watching race-baiting Yank series' on Netflix as you would expect.

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/election-us-2020-55559966

This article on the beeb just sums up everything. British news having such a long piece on a minor foreign politician is weird enough as it is, let alone an unashamed puff piece. However, take this quote:

Rev Warnock has said his principles are driven by his faith. "I've always tried to leverage the moral truth to create moral good. My whole life has been about service. And that doesn't end at the church door, it starts there."
If this was said by a white Democrat politician, there would perhaps be an eyebrow raised. If it was said by a white Republican politican, it would be treated as frightening. If it was said by a white British politician of any party... they'd just be laughed out of town. All by the same BBC puff piece author.

It's a shame these things get foiled (other than averting all the death and whatnot) as it would be fascinating to see what would happen when 50-odd lunatics tried to overthrow an entire country/government.

They'd get marched out by the police in about five minutes. Probably impossible to do, nowadays, in an advanced country, unless you had a massive upswell of popular support behind you that made the elites put their bats under their arms.

Some bad shit going down in Offy's manor of late. A fishing boat was totalled by a freighter earlier in the week (3 presumed dead) and now a block of flats has blown up in the night with at least 1 fatality.

The explosion was actually pretty close to me (I'm on the other side of the Fort, so maybe 400m-500m distance). I can smell smoke in the garden too. Send your prayers, boys. We need em more than ever.
