A rail firm is changing its policy following a backlash after a passenger was charged 10% of the cash found in his lost wallet for its return.

Adam Howells had to pay £8.60 commission - as well as a £2 administration fee - to have his wallet returned after he left it on a train.

How was that even allowed to happen?

I never knew companies charged for returning lost property. Rightly so. Good on them. You shouldn't have left your wallet on the train you dickhead.

A flat fee is fine but taking his money out to count it up and then charging 10%?

They should just burn everything they find. They could run a steam engine every New Years Day off all the shit they found over the previous year, and raffle the tickets for all the mugs who lost something.

He's been keeping a woman in his cellar and routinely beating her?

Even before I clicked on the link I knew the 'backlash' would be Twitter funded.

And this seems a perfectly reasonable policy:

10% of any cash recovered (Minimum of £2 up to a Maximum of £10)

They shouldn't know how much there is to charge 10% of.

Yes they're the type who refer to people as SJWs and spend most of their time harassing women and/or ethnics while claiming it's about ethics in games journalism.

Well they sound like bad people, so if they're the only ones there's definitely a gap in the market.

I thought that's what you meant, but they have to go through them to reunite them with their owners. How else are they meant to do that?

Let the owner chase up the lost wallet and then they can open it to prove it's theirs based on information on the owner in their presence.

They can open it and look for some form of ID without counting how much cash is in there, lol.

That's an awful way to do it. If I've lost my wallet by definition I won't know where I've lost it. They'll get a much better hit rate opening them, taking 10% cash and firing them back to people.

Well of course they can, but Giggles' problem is with them opening it in the first place. Do keep up.

It’s not like whoever found it and handed it in hasn’t already “rifled through it” and, should there be a large amount of cash, nicked some.

Yeah it's where a human writes several paragraphs collating documents of connected events to tell the story of that time. Lewis wrote one.

It’s the wife’s last day at work today and she started a bit later than normal. She’s made a buffet for her team so I said I’d drop her in. School drop offs, busses, people on the way to work and 2 fucking bin lorries later - I’m ready to murder the next cunt that inconveniences me even slightly.

People who call their kids things like 'Freddie' and 'Leo' (to take two from the 'upward trending' list) rather than the actual names that those are derived from is also a twat.

I knew a 'Loweeze' when I was young, and all the Heavenly Hirani Tigerlilies in the world won't match the shade of pink she'd go if she ever had had to correct someone on the spelling of her name.
