Neckbeards do the same with Funko Pops.

Look at how much both genders lap up Marvel slop as well.

Our generation is just a bunch of infantilised twats. Probably not all entirely their fault since a lot of the normal markers of adulthood have been moved beyond their financial grasp.

Yeah, perhaps an all-out ban on 'merch' is needed. Replica football shirts too.

It's probably partly that too. I did think "just get a fucking pet" when reading the article as well.

The adulthood that's out of reach is an intellectual one, for sure. There's nothing stopping most of these guys and girls from opening a savings account and planning for a bleak future.

Fuck houses, mate. What are you buying the house with? I'm talking about a third of the adult population having no savings whatsoever. Is the £3000 on a child's toy woman popping into Lloyds to start an ISA/Fixed-Bond/Pension Fund? Nah.

What are the average savings of a 40-year-old UK? The average savings for a 40-year-old in the UK is around £6,751.
I find that number very low and it can't all just be 'well, times are tough'. How many people are actually smart with their money, Boydy? And when I say smart, I mean 'doing anything with it'.

Doesn't matter how smart you are if you don't have enough and everything is wildly expensive.

    In other news:

A former colleague also claimed D'Acampo confronted a young crew member over ice cream in 2019, allegedly saying: “If you don’t get me a Cornetto, I will f*** your girlfriend.”

The amounts mentioned aren't really enough to project a wider crisis NARRATIVE onto are they? I reckon a 'software specialist' can afford three grand on teddies, which football fans must easily shovel into a club that hates them every season, so hopefully the story gets her a few admirers.

At least that might get the birthrate up, which is perhaps a wider crisis narrative.

    https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/...-via-newcastle

Hooters, the American “breastaurant”, known for its chicken wings and female waiting staff in skimpy nylon shorts and tight vests, is launching in the city centre of Newcastle upon Tyne.
“As a White Ribbon City, Newcastle stands against all harassment, abuse and violence against women and girls. All businesses in our city are encouraged to show their commitment to tackling these important issues and we will be raising it with the licence holder at these premises to ensure they understand our clear position.”

I couldn't think of a more perfect place to trial it, to be honest. The fucking Bigg Market.

“It’s horrible,” responded Jen Bagelman, 41, a professor of geography at Newcastle University who lives close by in the city centre. “We can do better than this.”

I don't know why they keep trying with Hooters, no one outside of the US has any time for it, as demonstrated by it failing everywhere they try to install it.

The "average" is more than likely a nonsense, too. Skewed by the few with lots of savings. Also, those without any savings, will also likely be in quite a bit of debt, be it a flash car, a loan or the credit card they do every weekly shop on.

Yeah, I couldn't trust it that much. I wasn't sure what it was pulling from. I assumed it was cash savings like ISAs, bonds, etc.

    From my Ai.

"According to recent data, the average UK household savings were around **£9,633**, but this figure includes a wide range of individuals, from those with minimal savings to those with significant amounts.

However, the **median savings** (which is often a better indicator of typical savings, as it is less skewed by very high savers) was closer to **£2,160**. This suggests that while some people have substantial savings, many others have relatively little."

Does, say, money in stocks count as savings? Because if it is only what is in a savings or checking account, then I don't have much.

EDIT: A very quick check suggests that savings calculations usually do not account for investments. Why would anyone have more than a few thousand bucks just sitting there doing nothing?

The problem with Hooters now is presumably that in the age of thirst traps and OnlyFans you can make a lot more money dressing skimpily in your own home than waiting tables in hot pants. I went to the San Diego Hooters, the highlight being my idiot mate being cut off on his endless wings order for sharing them (explicitly covered on the menu) then in a tantrum signing off the tip on his bill as 1 cent

The waitresses there were pretty but a lot of women in service jobs working in California would be 10s in the UK, everyone moves there to be a star after all.

Went to the Hooters Casino in Vegas and none of the women working there were particularly Hootery. Then we asked a taxi driver to take us to a strip club and he took us to a brothel with an ATM in the waiting room, we left and got into a dispute with another taxi driver.

This concludes my knuckle dragging essay on Hooters.

The teacher had requested a six-month leave of absence citing depression on 9 December but she returned to school just 20 days later after a doctor assessed her as being fit to work, the Daejeon education office said.

She did not have a relationship with the student, authorities said.

Days before the stabbing, the teacher had displayed violent behaviour, including putting another teacher in a headlock, they said.
Fire up the national anthem (which is a very good one to be fair).

This Sam Kerr case is interesting. She refers to a police officers skin colour in a derogatory manner, but is found innocent of being a bit of a racist, and is promptly celebrated by Guardian, and online lefties who would otherwise spend all day calling out anyone with a buzzcut as a member of the EDL. I reckon it's stuff like this that really harms the left when we let people get away with shit like this.

The copper clearly made up his complaint and the prosecution summing up was a hilarious series of semantic back flips, where the KC basically went down the if you swap white with black route, then about faced saying that was obviously too simplistic a way to view things and that the concept of racism was bound up in more things than mere physical characteristics, but that the law was drafted so as to allow the idiot interpretation and so she should be convicted. It was clearly all a colossal waste of time from the outset and the outcome was manifestly obvious.

    From the beeb:

It can now be reported that Ms Kerr's legal team attempted to get the case thrown out at a preliminary hearing, arguing there had been an abuse of process by crown prosecutors.

Ms Kerr's lawyer Grace Forbes said the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) had violated its own guidance, adding that a "loophole" in the victims' right of review scheme was used to justify prosecution proceedings a year after the alleged offence.
A scandalous waste of public money.

Didn't she call him a white wanker or whatever on camera though? So that can't be made up. He may have not had the best bedside manner but the reasoning that a cab driver taking you to the nearest police station for being a pair of drunken states probably isn't some kind of deranged sex criminal isn't exactly Sherlock Holmes level deduction.

I think the phrase was "stupid and white".

It could be argued that observing someone's ethnicity and stating it might not reach the threshold of racist harassment.

intended or likely to intimidate, offend or harm an individual
You could probably stretch that to fit by saying intending to offend, but then I guess you have to prove intent and she came up with a better account in testimony than PC rewrote his statement 11 months later to try and secure a costly and pointless trial. That's the thing with evidence, it gets judged as to its plausibility by the jury. It's hard work being a straight up PC Plod under cross examination, the CPS must have known they were going to have absolutely no chance once one who's motives you can legitimately question got up there. She was lucky enough to be able to afford expensive lawyers to defend her, of which you never see any come back on costs, a normal person would probably have been hung out to dry by a corrupt prosecution. I think if one were going to say which side was doing the more overt harassment it probably wasn't the drunk Aussie bint.

Apparently some places have started putted people's scan reports directly in the NHS app as soon as they're done and there's plans to roll it out nationwide

Unbelievably stupid idea. Beggars belief the morons making these decisions.

We had similar - Albeit with a doctors receptionist on the phone - and spent half a week thinking my son had diabetes, when it turned out he just needed an iron supplement. Probably unwise to give medical jargon to people that aren't medically trained in general.

The FA will presumably step in now with a lengthy ban like they did when the criminal case against John Terry went nowhere.

Yeah I mean blood results are bad enough, but imagine finding out you've got inoperable metastatic cancer from an alert on your phone.

Nevermind the fact there are complex scan reports I wouldn't be able to make head nor tail of as a doctor not in the relevant speciality. The fuck benefit is it to patients being presented with that? Cue a load of people rocking up at A and E or their GP demanding someone explains their fucking scan report to them. And me getting a load of people asking me what their report means, which I will not be going near with a fucking bargepole.

The fuck benefit is it to patients being presented with that? Cue a load of people rocking up at A and E or their GP demanding someone explains their fucking scan report to them. And me getting a load of people asking me what their report means, which I will not be going near with a fucking bargepole.
I mean it's better than waiting 12 weeks amirite.

You'll still be waiting the same amount of time for someone to actually explain it to you. Now you'll just spend the whole time thinking your incidentaloma means you're going to die.

Yeah I don't see the problem here. Getting results is better and they could explain WHAT THIS MEANS and if you need a follow up. Much better than the current process.

Yeah RL, stop being a twat. Mrs Smith will be absolutely fine about waiting 12 weeks to find out what her Ovarian Cancer means for her future. She definitely isn't going to be fretting about it, doom scrolling Wikipedia pages and bothering every medical profession she can access out of desperation.
