I like to think it's the film that killed any ambition Pavel had.
I listen to a really lame (and excellent) podcast, where 90s Melody Maker journos watch random episodes of top of the pops and have a big chat about it afterwards, and Glitter came up in one. They had a pretty interesting debate (tho one done to death on places like here tbf) comparing the likes of Glitter, Jackson, Pete Townsend (and most 60s rock n roll stars), in terms of how much people are willing to look past their transgressions and why.
I'm not sure really. My instinct is less to campaign for Glitter's reinstatement into the canon, more to use Townsend's nonciness as an extra excuse to take the piss out of people who like The Who, who are shit. And I have no interest in Jackson post-Off The Wall, and he was still black then so it's fine.
