They won’t win by kicking there. They need something out of the ordinary to even get close to these.

Around the NFL dickheads saying that the Chiefs are a likeable team with no one annoying to cover.

Have they forgotten what Tyreek did?

I don’t get the Tyreek Hill thing. You wouldn’t have to turn over too many stones to find a domestic abuse case in the NFL but he’s the only one cops any flak for it. Others like Adrian Peterson are lauded from all corners and he’s a child abuser. Ahman Green is on every list of greatest modern Packers and his favourite hobby was knocking women about. It’s a long list.

Mahomes is so good he cancels out child abuse.

This game is not going well for Green Bay.

He isn't really. Juszczyk is the one doing the bullying, Mostert is just bombing through all the massive gaps.

Why are the Packers sticking with the same two passing setups, even when the Niners are dropping the disguise and very obviously going straight after Rodgers in numbers.

The Packers don’t have anything else. They haven’t all season.

Death by a thousand runs for the Packers then.

Bit of a shame for it to fizzle out like that as you'd think that may have been Rodgers' last chance.

It took me a minute for Jimmy G's statline to register when I looked at it this morning, but I did like SI describing his performance as the "world’s most handsome handoff machine."

Okay, I decided I'd start giving some of the 2020 draft prospects a bit more of a look, as I'd barely watched any of them. MAN DO I LOVE JEFFREY OKUDAH (CB, Ohio State). Him & Derrick Brown (DT, Auburn) might be my two favourite players in the class.

Also, AJ Epenesa (EDGE, Iowa) is a big, strong boy, Isaiah Simmons (Clemson) is the Taysom Hill of defence, and Jedrick Wills (OT, Alabama) just did not give a fuck about anyone trying to pass rush against him.

Planning on doing CeeDee Lamb (WR, Oklahoma), Henry Ruggs (WR on x1.25 speed, Alabama) & K'Lavon Chaisson (EDGE, LSU) next, as they're the three highest rated players I've not got to properly yet.

Oh, and I have a fourth round grade on a punter & a fifth on a kicker

Is there a reason you go to all this effort for 'grading' players and whatnot other than because you enjoy it?

Not that that's not reason enough, I'm just curious.

Someone from this side of the atlantic just watching TV broadcasts or Youtube compilations can't really 'grade' anyone (unless it's just using an amalgamation of data from loads of real scouting websites as your own) but we all need a hobby in fairness. They're all shit until they prove it for a few seasons in the NFL anyway.

Oh yeah, I’m absolutely nowhere near knowledgeable enough to even know what I’m actually looking for & stuff, and when I say grading what I basically mean is ‘watch a few cutups & think of a couple of numbers out of 10 that feel about right, plug them into an excel document & assign round grade to certain ranges kinda randomly’.

I like data & spreadsheets, and I always get nerdy about the draft, so it’s fun to get a look at some of the guys before they come out & maybe slowly learn something about what I’m actually looking at in the process.

The packers looked a bit off didn’t they.

Get the feeling they’ve basically taken a punt that one of their receivers will eventually turn really good to compliment Adams.

    Kurmerow, M V-S and Allison.

Not really happened though, so could see them praying someone like ruggs or Higgins drops to them.

There’s a big gap from Adams to Lazard and then about double that gap back to the rest (not sure why they even signed Ryan Grant). They desperately need 2 or 3 receivers and a TE. Criminal that Jimmy Graham is the highest paid in the league.

There’s some big holes on defence too though, so the draft isn’t going to fix all their problems - ILB in a huge way, D-line help, and someone to drop Kevin Kind down the depth chart a bit. Need to start thinking about a QB in the first 3 rounds very soon too.

I like this. So much better than the waste of time that is an onside kick.

    http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap300...es-in-pro-bowl

After a successful field goal or extra point try attempt, the scoring team will have options with no kickoff.

The scoring team, Team A, will have the following options:
    1. Team A may elect to give Team B the ball at Team B's 25-yard line, beginning a new series of downs with a first-and-10.
    2. Team A may elect to take the ball at its own 25-yard line for a fourth-and-15 play. If Team A is successful in making a first down, Team A will maintain possession and a new series of downs will continue as normal. If Team A is unsuccessful in making a first down, the result will be a turnover on downs and Team B will take possession at the dead-ball spot.

A positive step I guess. 4th and 15 isn't going to be made too often either. Though a successful onside kick gives you possession near the 50, almost guarantees at least a FG attempt.

Need to do something anyway. Recent changes have made the onside basically pointless.

Removing any special teams in favour of offense and defense is a good move for me.

Clearly feeling the pressure from XFL.

    I’d like to see 4th & 10 from the 35, rather than 4th & 15 from the 25, but it’s a decent start I guess.

My limited experience of watching 4 games did make it seem pretty pointless that they spend 5 minutes getting a serperate team on and then some guy kicks it into the oppositions touchdown area and then the actual game starts again.

That '5 minutes' won't change even if they did bin special teams for other things because a lot of a given delay is so that they can advertise. The NFL has zero interest in making a game take less time to play. They'll just find other pointless stuff to do instead.

How long is the average NFL game, out of interest?

Baseball the average is 3:05 and they are shitting themselves to bring that down, so it's interesting that NFL doesn't have the same problem (or if they do, are keen to ignore it).

Baseball is very repetitive though whilst American football is a bit more random and wild (read:violent).

I don’t think the nfl cares how long the game takes if it’s 3-4 hour range. People will watch and if it’s a blowout they leave.

Most NFL games seem to come in under 3 hours, or just about on that going off the regular season 6pms, as they're nearly always done by 9.

"the black guy" is a hall of fame baseball player, too. I'm not saying that to be snarky just providing context to the commercial lol

It's okay, they still have his clone, and Arch Manning will probably be eligible by the time Jones' rookie deal ends, so they can go back to the real thing.
