The problem is I feel like the wage difference between the Championship and League 1 is massive. Also, if they've got a £20k a week player being counted as £2k towards the cap, are they then allowed to sign other players as if they're under the cap? Something about it just feels off to me.
Edit- I'm guessing it's until the end of each contract, which yea.... guess that means they'll have to sell players when the deal is almost up. Still, I think we'll see teams who come down who are over the cap by a laughable amount. Especially if any team comes down from the Premier League to League 1 within a handful of seasons.

There should be a luxury tax equivalent for teams that want to go over the limit where they have to pay into a fund that’s distributed either to the rest of the league or to grassroots or a bailout fund or something.
