Cool, I'll be watching.
Schedule: https://gamesdonequick.com/schedule
Watching as much as I can over the next week. Closing out on a non-glitched FF IV will be cool to see. Shame they haven't got an all-bosses incentive for Bloodborne.
Will be fun to see the L4D2 if I remember to watch it.
It will be interesting to see how much worse that team is than Ian, Cord, Benny and me, the best that TTH can throw up.
Make sure you watch the blindfolded Punch Out, still the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen on one of these.
Indeed, I loved watching it last year.
Oh, I usually knock him out in X seconds
Mario 61 at half one is gonna be glorious, Cheese05 is a machine and Punkayshun is the original M64 OG
I missed Rayman Legends? :(
The Twitch channel should have all of the VODs available pretty much instantly, they normally upload all the runs to YT a bit later too.
I'll be dropping in a donation during the blindfolded punch out.
I'll make sure it gets called out and that TTH is in the mention.
Fucking Kirby, why can't this shit be on when I'm at work.
Indeed.
I have no idea why I liked Kirby so much as a kid.
The hours that I sunk into the games :\
Edit: Just seen we have another hour or so of Kirby :(
Diddy Kong Racing, Super Mario Kart and Super Mario 64.
A strong trio for when Kirby finally fucks off.
Toufool is ridiculous.
Best thing so far, MrsGizamaluke pulled it out of the bag after Toufool let him in by missing some glitch thing.
Fucking brilliant shit.
1 second in it
Another great racing run.
This is the big one lads, the techniques used in this are fucking insane
This and then that multiplayer mental thing.
I need sleep but fuck it.
They're making me look so inept.
The speed at which they catch the rabbit in the basement, they might as well be punching younger me in the face at that point :(
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_dPCR7b4tto
Oh and the Super Mario multiplayer was proper lol.
Super Star Wars race on now, looks like Stryker got a little tubby.
All runs are being uploaded here if you miss anything, bit easier to find things than on Twitch VODs.
https://www.youtube.com/user/gamesdonequick
I've been checking their Youtube every 30 minutes today, I slept through L4D2 :(
Oh and the highlights so far are Diddy Kong Racing, Mario Kart and the Super Mario 120 race as well as the multiplayer.
If you can stand it the Twitch VOD should only be about half an hour behind live. I saw the end of one of the L4D runs at lunch which would have been about 12.30
Super Punch Out coming up and then Mike Tyson's Punch Out blindfolded
Stepmania! Fuck!
Yeah this a bit fucking mental.
Aye!!
Twitch chat: "Imagine what he can do to his girlfriend"
Never change :D
I only caught the end of that but fucking hell it looked insane.
Tasbot is the best bot.
Bloodborne, fuck yeah
I hate pre-patch any% so at least I can chuckle at his early fuck-ups.
That's a wrap. $1,208,238.

Pretty cool that.
I wonder if Zallard will mention it in the SGDQ.
More than that, for a game like this they will have probably learnt not only all the layouts but enemy behaviour and placement too, for some games there's also a lot of manipulation going on (which isn't always apparent) so enemies spawn in beneficial places. I would think it's hundreds if not thousands of hours of practice, made slightly more convenient these days as most games have been mapped already so it's a process of memorising it rather than learning it from scratch.
Summer Games Done Quick 2016 schedule is up.
https://gamesdonequick.com/schedule
A reminder Summer Games Done Quick starts today at about 6pm-ish. There will be a Tetris Grandmaster segment.
Whilst I'm here, I did wonder how a New Game Speed Run of MGSV would work, given that most of that game casually is waiting for timers and developing tech. Turns out they give the run a caveat: Run to the first credits. It's a decent watch.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RhuSaOm9b50
The requirements for becoming an official Grand Master (or whatever it is) are fucking insane, I refuse to believe anyone who manages it isn't a robot.
Speaking of robots is Zallard doing Punch Out this year?
No Punch-Out run this year. Surprised there wasn't a Dark Souls III run, although I've seen a lot of them in the last few months. This evening's got a good few runs I fancy watching.
Twice recently I've fallen asleep with Youtube on autoplay and woke up to a Doom speed run belting away, with the video title claiming it was a world record time. I watched about five minutes of it and it looked about as well rehearsed as anything you can think of. If the nutcase who did that is involved with this I might watch some of it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6JvMPMo8INI
No Draqu or Doom 2016. Final Doom is up at 1:50am on Thursday. Wolfenstein: The New Order gets ran on Tuesday.
Just watching some chap complete a Castlevania game blindfolded. Skills.
I came to post the same thing, it's mental.
Anyone see the guy on the Bioshock run get trolled by his mate replacing the cut scene with windows 10 update? :D
Blindfolded Castlevania has been thrown into chaos.
Tetris up in a minute. Hmm, Tetris or the football?
Tetris all the way.
So they broke the million again. Caught up with most of the runs I wanted to watch. I'd reccomend:
The Tetris Grand Master Exhibition
TASBot block. Started boring with a couple of videos and then went kinda nuts.
Bioshock
Two Worlds
The Super Metroid race
Blindfolded Symphony of the Night
Dishonored
Avoid the two Bawkbasoup runs (Resident Evil 2, Silent Hill 3). He might've been up for 40 hours but he and his couch, and the donation comments are practically all memes.
Still got to catch FF VI and Little Big Planet.
Is there anywhere with timestamped links?
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCI3...3fJPjKtQ5kYHfA
If all the runs aren't up there, they will be shortly.
Final total was $1,298,379.44
Beast.
I'll have a check of the Fallout ones later. Even on a speed run FO4 clocks in at over an hour, but FO3 gets done in under 20 minutes :D
That's why I don't mind seeing repeat runs at these events. Over a year, these runs can get completely re-routed and smashed.
Anything with PJ, Richter, or Pcull is also worth watching as is the Mario Maker contest.
I haven't watched anything sadly. I was seething when I saw that Zallard wasn't going to be there with punch out.
Anything Bethesda from Oblivion onwards will suffer from the same issue, namely that walls are entirely optional. The guy who runs Skyrim breaks most of it with a bucket.
The Momodora run is a really good one, I'm now watching Braid which appears to be being run by a security guard.

AGDQ's 2017 schedule. 8th -14th January. That's incentive for me to finish Doom.
How do speed-runners even begin on huge games like Fallout? Like, I kind of get it for Mario, because there's only so many ways to get through a level. But huge open-world games sort of feel like you could shave off a near-infinite number of instants if you're trying to improve.
When it comes to Fallout (specifically, Bethesda's engines), they look for out of bounds tricks. You can go anywhere from the outset in those games so you just need to find the right wall to clip through. Because they use the same tech, they try the same tricks that will usually work.
All you need is a bucket, a wall and the right angle.
Routing can take a little while and even in very old games is continually being improved upon (mainly safer strategies for doing things that save time to make them practical to use in speedruns) but something like Fallout would start with making a list of what ingame macguffins you need to complete it and sketching out the best routes to each of them. An advantage in Fallout in particular is that it shares an engine with older games with some established strategies, for example you'll find that walls in Bethesda games are more of a suggestion than an actual limitation.
Also, to 'complete' Fallout 4 only requires doing around 7-10 separate quests. They're not actually that long, just for the main quest.
Had a sneak preview of the Tasbot project for the upcoming AGDQ the other day, Zelda is going to be well and truly destroyed.
I ended up watching Tasbot does Brain Age and Super Mario Bros 3 earlier because of that, cheers Disco.
It looks like they'll be able to program stuff into Zelda (like they did when they put snake into SMW) so it should be worth watching. The guy in charge also rambled on for ages about the innards of a SNES which might be the most boring thing that I've ever found interesting.
Looking forward to that. I can't get enough of that stuff.
This is your friendly reminder AGDQ 2017 kicks off at 6pm.
www.twitch.tv/gamesdonequick
5pm...
Well, get to it, then.
All the runs are uploaded here if anyone wants to catch up on something.
https://www.youtube.com/user/gamesdonequick/videos
TASbot block at around 7:30 tonight.
Man, this Dark Souls III run has the worst luck. :(
Wrapped up. $2.2m and counting.
They raised over $1m on the final day alone which is pretty fucking incredible.
Moment of the week, toss up between seat sniffing guy and the bloke on the couch who told the crowd to kill themselves.
The seat sniffer :D
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ey3grPHi-vA
The first moment in that video is pretty amazing too.
All speedrunners could learn something from TGH who did Undertale. I recommend watching it if you've time to kill: https://www.twitch.tv/gamesdonequick...71?t=38h43m15s
That was great, I was watching that live.
Big John/Jon is fucking amazing.
It's that time again. AGDQ 2018 starts Sunday.
Here's the schedule. There's also a bunch of new guidelines for runners and commentators to prevent any DRAMA.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9nVsFXzNVpM&t
This year's cringe.
Hey, this is happening again. Summer Games Done Quick, specifically. Took all of two minutes to get into a twitter spat due to a runner mentioning how CosmoWright got him into speedrunning. Naturally, because Cosmo is now called Narcissa, transgender runners are up in arms.
Oh, Ninja Gaiden Black is tomorrow morning. Sign me up.
https://gamesdonequick.com/schedule
AGDQ2019 is upon us.
It's what I watch for.
Fucking hell.
I heard the GDQ event/organisation is sketchy as fuck.
In what sense? Criticism's been leveled at their admin costs and bans.
Dark Cells is getting a speedrun :|
You mean Dead Cells?
There's got to be a Dark Cells somewhere on steam, I'm sure.
